is the amsco book outdated? the last edition was 2003

i am only using rea right now. is any other book necessary?

I didn't like the REA book. My APUSH class was kinda worthless and I didn't learn anything from it. I suggest the Kaplan book; the tests aren't that good but the summaries are excellent. I got a 5 just by cramming from it for 1-2 weeks before the AP.

I don't think its outdated because if it were they would make a new one.

Well, it may be outdated if you're talking about how the AP test works (although I'm not sure if there have been any significant changes in the last three years).

But if you mean whether US history has changed in the last 3 years, I think you're fine. ;)

I suggest supplementing your textbook with Amsco (very good details, although the exams are not that great - also, not outdated, as the exam is mostly based on older history, which has not changed) and Barron's. I like their AP Review Books - their tests are good representations of the actual exam. Also, I went to AP Central on Collegeboard and practiced with old essay prompts. I made notes for almost all of the prompts and in that manner, covered a very good portion of the curriculum.

Just so you know, these methods worked very well for me. I got a 5 on the AP Exam and an 800 on the SAT II test. Let me know what you choose to do. ^_^
