APUSH Self Study

Did anyone here self study APush? and if so how did you do on the AP test?
what study books do you recommend?

I had a class for it, but our teacher knew nothing about american history so I did self study it. Know everything in AMSCO and it’s a 5 basically. People recommend AMSCO for the depth of material and Rea’s Crash Course for the concise review.

Our AP class lasts for our junior year, but only covers western expansion onwards. our sophomore US I covers colonialism-reconstruction (approx 1600-1873). My AP teacher was sufficient…so that wasnt a problem, but my US I teacher taught me absolutely nothing. Before I started studying, I didn’t know really basic things, like what the significance of john marshall was. all i did to study US I was get AMSCO and read it. In my opinion, you definitely CAN self study APUSH. My suggestions are read AMSCO because its basically the APUSH bible, and if your parents know anything about us history, talk to them about it, because you are going to need to be able to analyze history for the DBQ and the free response essays. All you need is your AMSCO book and a person willing to discuss things with you sometimes.

don’t do it. apush is one of THE hardest ap courses ever. you need to follow
speciic format for the DBQs and there are a lot of strategies and skills you need
to learn from your guidance teaher. self study something else like psych or env science
