Inevitably, my scores on both tests probably won't be equal.
As such, do I have an option to approve my scores before they are sent to colleges I listed before I took to the test, or are they sent in immediately or can I stop them from sending it in if the score is lower than I plan?

You can change your score recipients (including to none) within 10 days of taking the test (maybe less for ACT?). After that time, no you cannot withdraw your score recipients. Or maybe you can for a fee, but it is potentially possible that your score has been released after 10 days (although probably not likely).

Especially if you have already applied to various schools and this was a last try attempt on your test scores, they defintely require that you send the scores directly and not wait until you find out how well you did.

Since you can only send six from the registration on the website, does that mean I can only apply to six colleges?

On ACT you can send 4 for free, the other 2 cost an additional fee. But no, those score reports are probably really preliminary to be honest. Once you decide which schools you are going to actually apply to, you will go back to ACT/SAT websites and request to send scores… it will cost money then however.

If you are likely or certain to apply to some schools, and these schools require all scores, super score, or otherwise have a score use practice that gives you no reason to use score choice, you might as well use your included reports to send scores there.

For the SAT, you can check how they use scores here:
