my aunt has been rambling about sending in my violin senior pics to Emory. I mean saw on the Emory App (not common) that it makes the app more personable. But does it matter? I actually did the common app, so I didn't even see it on there until my aunt suggested. What do you guys think?

I doubt it matters. The only possible advantage that I see is communication of your talents with the violin, but you probably already have covered this somewhere else in your application, like in an essay.

Personally, I only sent pictures if they asked for them. I remember that Wake Forest reserved a specific place on their application for applicants to paste a personal picture.

The Emory App does ask, although they say it's optional.

A photograph is optional. The admission committee thinks your photograph can make this process a bit more human. If you would like to submit a photograph of yourself, please attach it to a separate piece of paper and include it with your application materials.

It really depends on whether or not you are ugly......

jk

I sent in a picture where I am holding my pet chicken. Its what I wrote my essay about. You would be suprised...

ya, i'd send it just because there's no other reason not to unless it's some myspace emo pic..just make sure you look good in it lol

I don't know what the admissions officers are thinking, but if I were one of them, I would see a picture as a plus, as opposed to not having it. But I doubt not having one can hurt you.

I'm pretty sure they like it just because it makes it seem more personal. Also, if you've met an admission officer, if they happen to be one of the 3 or 4 people who read your application, they may remember you, which could help?

^That's a good point.
