Are application essays the same every year?

See title. I don’t think I have time in October when the app’s up to do these essays and revise them, so if they’re the same as the ones they posted on the UC site, I might as well start now. Thanks.

And if so, the first question is about taking advantage of educational opportunities…Any ideas? When I first saw this I was thinking how many AP/H classes I took, but now I’m thinking about writing about school-sponsored trips. Also, I went to a really selective camp in 7th grade…even though it was a while ago, can I still write about it? I have my diary from that time so I can refer back to it. I changed a lot during that time…What do you all think? :)

Hmm, well, it wouldn't hurt I guess to start early and contemplate on your response. However, just be aware that it might change. When I applied, it went from one essay to three completely different essays . Also, you have two months to finish your application! http://universityofcalifornia.edu/admissions/undergrad_adm/apply_to_uc.html . That's plenty of time to fill it out, respond to the essays and revise them, especially if you start right away. Just make sure that if you want certain people, like teachers, to edit them for you, let them know way ahead of time so you don't get thrown to the bottom of the pile and be kept waiting until the last minute.

Hope this helps!
