Are APs accepted for TAG for UCR, UCM, UCSC?

I found this pdf through google:
https://canadacollege.edu/transfercenter/docs/uc-tag-powerpoint.pdf
which says UCR, UCSC, UCM do not allow APs for the 30 units requirement for TAG? Can anyone confirm if this is true?
I couldn’t find any confirmation on the UCR, UCM, UCSC websites, but I’ll continue to look.

I don’t think they accept AP credits. Solely community college credits. Not sure. Do your homework.

You can use AP scores of 3 or higher to fulfill IGETC. Occasionally some majors accept AP to fulfill a major requirement. It will say on the top of the assist page for the major. If it’s allowed it will not affect the TAG. Using for IGETC is fine.

Did you consider higher-tier UC’s as well? OP

My son is just a HS freshman, so for now this is just very early planning. But we’re very interested to pursue TAG for computer science major. And would like to plan early on what HS courses would be more beneficial for TAG - whether APs or DE in CCC. TAG for UCI would be our first choice and UCI accepts APs for the 30 units for TAG. But unfortunately, UCI won’t accept TAG for CS major starting Fall2020.

Oh he is a freshman. I’m a undergrad at CSU Fullerton and I would totally recommend checking out the CSU’s too. They are cheap and there is probably one nearby that has computer science. Cal Poly SLO has an excellent computer science program since they are known in the engineering field. I would also recommend San Jose State University for computer science. They are in the heart of the Silicon Valley and employers from big firms recruit there. But TAG/TAP is a great way to get into UC’s too since they almost guarantee admission.

Your son shouldn’t worry too much about freshman year. He should definitely find friends and have a bit of fun. Keep his grades at least a 3 or higher freshman year. Sophomore and junior years are his critical years because those are the years he takes the SAT/ACT (if he wants to go to university) and grades are critical those years since most A-G’s check onto those years. Tell him to study hard those two years.

Best.

Thank you! CSUs are definitely in our top options.
Yes he’s focused on doing well in high school stuff and just 1 sports he’s been doing for 10 years. I’m the one just thinking of college, cause cost is a big factor, and since we’re one of those families who won’t qualify for financial aid, but won’t be able to afford our EFC ?

ooops I meant to say my son is a sophomore Lol, I don’t know how I got confused with that. Just tired from 11 hours of work ?
