Are asians URM at Tufts?

only 30% of students at tufts are of color, so I’ve been wondering if asians are considered a URM here. Also, how much does Tufts factor race in their admissions?

It’s an easy matter to google the % of asian students at tufts. If the % is greater than % asians in the overall US population, then they’re ORM.

I would be surprised to hear that Asians are considered URMs at any of the most competitive universities.

My daughter’s best friend just got into Vanderbuilt under their Mosaic program. It’s a program that accepts minorities that they really want earlier then regular notification date. She’s Indian. So I was very surprised that she was considered a minority. But there it is.

@momworried Vanderbilt is known to have a lower amount of asians than most top schools, none the less I’m still surprised at that.

@VegasLiving‌ The Tufts diversity program (Voices of Tufts) allows anyone of any race to apply while many programs at similar schools specifically state they want people who are URM, first gen, or low income. That said I still don’t think Asians are considered URM for admissions purposes at Tufts.
