I just wanted to know if I needed new SAT I scores (with the essay addition) to apply to Berkeley, or if they would accept old SAT I scores (taking in mind my writing SAT II score), plus three other SAT II scores. Thanks to anyone who can answer (and sorry if it's a silly question).

not silly, but I'm surprised your school hasn't been all over this change....

For matriculants of 2006, you MUST take the new SAT with writing, or ACT + Writing. In addition, you need to take two SAT Subject tests (nee SAT IIs), in different subject areas. They will no longer accept Math 1, btw.

Oy, how lame. Actually...is this true for transfer applicants? Sorry I didn't clarify, but that is the reason why my school hasn't told me--I'm about to leave high school. I already was accepted to Berkeley for Fall 2005, but my mom forced me to go to Duke (for financial reasons, interestingly enough), and I plan to do a transfer app (not that I know how things will turn at once I'm at Duke classes, but I already have to plan for a possible transfer).

SAT is not even required for transfers; they won't look at it. However, please understand that to be considered a Transfer at Berkelely, you must have enough units for Jr standing, i.e., 60 transferable units. Some of the lesser UC's will accept Soph transfers. You might call them to see if they'll accept a Frosh app for a rising Soph..

nod I know I have enough AP credit to do this, so I'm pretty sure I can apply as an incoming junior, and am not too worried about this aspect of the process. I guess what I should worry about now is getting transfer credit from Duke; I'll have to call Admissions about that. Thanks for all this info, though! :)
