Are Subject Tests Very Important on College Apps?

I took two subject tests last spring and did really well on one (760 on U.S. History) but I only got a 630 on Math II. I still have time to retake the Math Subject test (I’m not even going into the math field, but I got I am usually very good at math and got a 790 on the math section of the regular SAT), and maybe a different one, but if they don’t play a huge role in the application process then I don’t want to have to pay all the registration fees for the subject tests. The rest of my application is very strong: 1520 SAT (1560 if superscored), 4.3 cumulative GPA, 5s on three AP tests, lots of extracurriculars, Class President for 3 years). I know most schools do not require the scores, but I need them for some of my reach schools that do require them. Thank you for any advice!!

I would recommend retaking it if you can easily boost the score. A 630 is very low on Math II (26th percentile)

While it is my opinion that Subject Tests do not play a huge role, they do play a role. If what you consider to be your reach schools are top-tier, then your 630 will stick out, and not in a good way. I’d suggest retaking or choosing a different Subject Test.

Why not Math I? That’s closer to SAT math section.
