I've already taken a decent amount of history courses but my school doesn't offer world history and I need some more SAT subject tests. Is this something I can reasonably self study for? How hard are the AP and SAT World History Exams?

There are tons of sample tests online. Go look and see.

I definitely think you could self study for the AP World History test as long as you’re somewhat interested in history and motivated. I took AP World as a sophomore last year when it was considered a joke class at my school (>20 kids, all slacker seniors + me) the teacher even acknowledged that none of us cared at all about the class, so he’d just make it easy on us and barely assign any work and let us use laptops and computers during class as long as we weren’t disruptive of other who wanted to listen to the lectures. So all I did was read the text book on my own and half listen to the lectures and PowerPoint that came straight out of the book. I didn’t study at all for the test either and didn’t even know what an FRQ or anything was (the people in my class were all over achievers who had taken like 6 APs as juniors, so the teacher assumed we all knew basic AP stuff…) and I got a 3. Not great but good for how little of work I put in. So yeah I’m sure you could do it and score better. Not sure about the SAT IIs though since I haven’t taken it.

very helpful post

any other thoughts from others?

I took the SAT World History exam after two years of regular Global History classes and got a 770. I just read my textbook cover to cover and did some practice tests. If you like history it’s not too bad, and it has a really generous curve.
