World history self study?

I heard world history is a lot easier than us history as far as general vs specific context of it. So I havent taken Ap world history, but Ive taken ap Euro and currently taking AP US... Lets just say im aiming for an 800...would it be wise to self study for the world history test and if so would I need an actual textbook, or would one or two of the study aids be sufficient?

Also whats the curve like?

Thanks

Take the US SATII (assuming SATII because you said you want an 800). It was pretty easy. If you havnt taken a world history course, I doubt you could pull an 800 reading a book by yourself. Where would you have the time to study the entire world history on top of your other classes?

well i was contemplating it because I did the practice questions on the collegeboard website, and I got them all right just based on my European history knowledge and just random stuff I pick up

The questions on the Collegeboard website are a lot easier than actual test questions.

I only took AP European History and self-studied World History on my own and pulled off an 800. I used the Mckay World Societies as the main study guide and used Barrons and Kaplan as references. But it is certainly possible to get an 800 by self-studying, you just have to know the non-European history stuff.

You can definitely do world history with just self prep. Get the PR book. It covers everything you need to know.

well i tired to self teach myself US History (I'm Canadian). It wasnt easy but you can teach yourself history just by reading a lot. It's not impossible.

so... do i need an actual text book... or are the study aids enough?

if you have time, then definitely use a textbook. If not, then study guides would suffice for a decent score.

wow juventus, i greatly admire your ability to read a picture book and get a 800

I studied AP World History over the summer independently by using the World Civilizations textbook and achieved an 800 on the test...I would definitely recommend it to anyone serious about putting in the work

I studied World History independently and achieved an 800 using the World Civilizations: Global Experiences textbook...I even used the non-AP version and still got a perfect score...I would definitely recommend it to anyone serious about putting the work in
