you have a while.....

all that info will come later

there's a lot of things you need to bring but they will send you a list later so don't worry. there is a laundry room in each building of course. and all rooms have a desk, chair, bookshelf, lamp, bed

NOOO
is it possible to get rid of the bookshelf?
i mean i would NOT want it if it was built on top of the desk..

i think i know what you are talking about because i have the same thing in my dorm room at school. some of the desks, however, have no bookshelf. so i assume there is a really good oppurtunity that yours either does not have the shelf attached or, if it does, you can just switch with someone.

but thats only a guess.

most of the desks have built in shelves on top of them for your books.

what if then my computer monitor (24inch) wont fit?

If you have a Dell 2405/2407, it will fit. I have a 2001fp in my room and the height is about the same on both monitors. 2 of my friends have a 2405 and 2407 and it fits just fine. Here's a pic of my desk so you can get an idea of what it looks like. Ignore the mess, this was early in the semester. :P

don't worry about the bookshelf thing too much. Most people have no problem fitting their computers. And my room actually has a separate, stand-alone bookshelf :)

hey tun, that's the 24inch from dell right?
mine will be from gateway

tun, that looks like a donlon room. is it?

how good is mews?

i was wondering about mews too..
is it close to the gym???

do we get to choose our dorms too?
did i ask this before?? =P

ahhh, a question about mews. feel free to PM if you have any other questions about mews, I live there this year. I think it's one of the best dorms. It's new, and if you live on the east side it's the closest to Appel commons, which is where north star dining is. All the dorms are really close to the gym. There's a small weight room in Appel, which is pretty good. It's a quick walk to to Helen Newman, the bigger gym. All the dorms are really close to everything on north campus. robert purcell is close as well. The west side of mews is equally close to both dining halls.

And you don't get to choose your own dorms. It's all done by chance, although you can pretty much choose balch if you desire. The housing form only asks for preferences of singles, doubles, or townhouses. You can also indicate if you want to live with mostly girls (most likely you would get balch, maybe a townhouse). Outside of that, it's all chance, at least that's how it is freshman year.

then which dorm are the newest...i heard some are renovated??

the renovated ones are all on west campus. The newest for freshmen are mews and court-kay-bauer.

Yes, that is a Donlon Room. Mews and the Bauer-Kay-Court dorms are the two newest, but Donlon is definitely the best dorm in terms of socializing.

if you request a double and they give you a single, do you have to pay the extra $800?

i assume by singles you mean no roomate?

Yes NishtDawg, but that will most likely never happen. There are always more people requesting singles than there are singles available.
