when the instruction only says "1-2 pages" instead of ***word limits, it doesn't say about the margin, which has a huge difference..

(sorry if this question' been asked alot...but when I search "margin" I can't find any..)

Are you referring to the Common App. essay? Just want to make sure since I thought that Wesleyan did not have a supplemental essay (but what do I know, I am only the mom!)
In any event, I don’t know about the margins. This is the first time I have seen a question about margins. I know for the National Merit essay they said it just had to fit in the space provided and that they wouldn’t read anything beyond that. Sorry I can’t answer your question. Please answer mine about whether there is a Wesleyan supplemental essay. Thanks.

no, wes does not have any supplemental essays.

for the common app essay, which i think you’re talking about, i’d just use standard MLA formatting, which dictates 1 inch margins. assuming you can fit 300 words a page, you should probably write around 500-600 words.

yea. I’m talking about commonapp.

so boilingwax you are talking about 1 inch margins and double space? then it would be 600 words for 2 pages. but I’ve read my seniors’ essays they all write about 900 words(single space and about 1.5 pages)

who is right@@

I would keep the common app essay limited to one page. My teacher said we should avoid having to make readers flip to the next page.

yeah I’ve heard of that too~ so try to keep it to one page(though I hardly can…)

I think my essay was about a page and a half.
