Are there any scholarships available for NYU freshmen going on to sophormore?

Hi, I have a question about scholarships availabe in NYU.

I'm an international student (Canadian student) and am wondering whether NYU would spare some money for poor international students.

It would be really helpful if you guys would let me know of some merit-based scholarships offered for international students.

Thank you very much. :)

Hi wwkkim,

The way I understand it is that NYU grants merit scholarships at the time of admission, and later on that money is absorbed into different funds (so the only thing that really changes is the name of the scholarship). I've asked the financial aid office whether there is possibility for getting more merit based scholarship but they said that in the majority of cases the university will not. Aid is even more limited for international students. If you are in a very difficult financial situation, I would recommend submitting transfer applications and then comparing the aid and your options. Of course, transferring is only in the most extreme situations if you really want to stay at NYU.

NYU's policy is that no financial aid is given to international students - international students are expected to foot 100% of all cost for attendence. I suspect this includes merit aid, as well. However, nothing bars you from bringing in non-NYU scholarship money.
