Are there NYC private schools that accept 11th graders?

My sons current private school is threatening to expel him. He’s in 11th grade. Are there any NYC private schools( preferably Manhattan) that accept 11th graders?
He made a bad judgement call but didn’t do anything violent or out of the ordinary; I feel the real reason for this threat is that he has a learning disability and is a C student and the work is too much/challenging for him.
Had they brought this to my attention in 9th gr a transfer would be doable… it seems impossible now… all the quality public hs have no vacancies so unsure what to do… trying to prevent him from going to a crappy public school… I’m okay with public schools it’s just in nyc the quality public hs schools are few and have no vacancies for 11th graders… if they did I’d be happy to transfer him there.

I suspect that this year’s transfer admissions might be a little easier because of COVID-19. It’s worth a shot to make calls and cast a wider net. I know kids who have transferred high schools (for a wide variety of reasons) and also someone who rented an apartment in the Bronxville school district and sent their student to that very good public school for roughly the same cost as tuition would have been (that was a long time ago, so I have no idea what the market is like now but tuition sure has increased a lot, as you are aware!)

Kids I know have gone to Trevor Day, Avenues, York Prep, Columbia Prep, LREI, Professional Children’s School (without being a performer), Fusion Academy, a couple of girls schools which doesn’t help you, and a couple of Catholic schools but I can’t remember which ones.

I also know a few who went to pretty competitive schools but there was always some sort of strong connection. But honestly I would call around to lots of them, or get a private counselor.

Professional children’s school took a friend’s kid who needed a placement for similar reasons. It was either mid 11th or even 12th. They are flexible by design.

Are you limited to Manhattan ? Are you open to other boroughs?

PetraMC has some great suggestions. I would recommend calling Parents League. This is exactly the kind of thing they can help with. If he has a LD, then maybe Dwight depending on what the LD is?
