hi so a few months ago I came across this link that someone posted here on CC
I dont remember which thread it came from but obviously it was about florida state schools
anyways
the GPAs listed on the second page, does anyone know if those are the florida recalculated gpas? I am assuming they are but I just wanted to double check if anyone knows.
thank you

thanks for posting… hadn’t seen one of these in awhile. last one i saw was in 2007.

np.
do you know if these numbers are recalculated?

also can you help me out?
i want to go to either UF, FSU, or UCF. Those are my top three choices

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/university-florida/1120158-im-junior-my-grades-have-gone-down-help-can-i-still-get-into-uf.html

FSU- No prob
UCF - No Prob
UF- Keep it up.

As long as you improve upon your SAT, you and I have similar stats… I got into all three without any issues… and got a scholarship. Good luck and keep up the good work.

are you sure? im really worried that because my grades have gone down it looks really bad. Hopefully being an IB diploma candidate helps!

do you mind telling me your stats? gpa (uw & w), SAT scores, etc…
thank you!

btw, you are most likely out of state unless your mom has lived in florida for several years or you just recently moved with your father (i’m assuming)… your chances are slim.

my father lives up north and i tried to get into a state school there and they accepted me but even though my father has lived there for 12 + years, they wouldn’t give me in state tuition.

we talked to the admissions office at UF and they said that i will pay for in state tuition but they will consider me an out of state student but they also said that “it doesnt matter if I am an instate or out of state student” which is total BS but that is their official word.

Our family bought the house back in 06 or 07 and my mom moved down there around 09 but didnt change residency until this past december.

anyways how much does being an OOS student affect my chances at UF, FSU, and UCF? =(

i think it’s like 6 or 7% is OOS… (don’t quote me) you can find the stats on college board… your chances might be a little slim.

Those GPAs are the recalculated SUS GPA’s. Since high schools calculate GPAs very differently throughout Florida, they wouldn’t publish GPAs there weren’t calculated using the same methodology.

ahh thats so sad!!
what about FSU and UCF?

I think so. Most of the public colleges in Florida use the same calc.

no i mean my chance to get into UF, FSU, and UCF.
haha
