I'm a sophomore this year at this school. I'm sort of depressed now because I think I have 2 A's in two of my classes and 2 B- (most likely) in these two other classes I'm struggling in (not really related to my major) and I was wondering if my life is ruined and I won't get hired because of it. This school is very competitive and I assure you I think all the students get straight As. I'm terrified and I feel stupid.

Hi @portalbox , you’re going to a really competitive and academically rigorous school! You should be proud of yourself. Your life is not ruined because of two potential B-minuses. If you do what you love, and you do it well, that will show.

@portalbox, I think you should make an appointment and talk to your academic advisor. Your other threads indicate you’ve been struggling a bit with this school - I take it you are a transfer and you commute? That does put you at a bit of a disadvantage since you don’t have the built-in support system that women living on campus have. Have you made friends there? In the short term, I think talking to your advisor would probably help put your mind at ease -and it’s alos good for him/her to know how you feel, so they can better advise you in the future! Longer term, I hope you’ll find a friend group you can confide in. It would probably help if you knew other students with similar worries/concerns, which I’m betting many have! Hang in there, and good luck this finals week…

Number one. You are far from “doomed”.
Second. You are fortunate, as one of the very few women (in the world) receiving a top tier college education, the future holds endless possibilities.
Third. Building intellect results from confronting challenging concepts. P
