Are these schools obtainable?

Hello all,

I am about to enter my sophomore year at a top liberal arts college in New England. I am a D1 athlete at the school and am a BioChem major. I have a 3.2 GPA for college and had a 4.0 in HS as well as a 31 ACT with lots of volunteering(both in HS and in College when I found time) and ECs. I plan to head back for the fall but am looking at trying to become a spring transfer or transfer out after sophomore year. Is my GPA fine to transfer into a school like Richmond, BC, UNC, Colgate, etc.

I am currently forming a lost of similar ranked schools as mine and would like to know if my college GPA hurts me a bit and if I should look into staying or looking at schools a little bit lower than mine like a Furman, Gettysburg, etc.

Before I pursue this I want to make sure this is something that I have good chance at. I don’t mind the school I am at, I just feel like there might be a better fit for me. I also have come to not agree with some decisions the school has made which makes me kind of want to leave. I am not as enthusiastic about going back this fall, and will definitely see how it goes, but want to make sure I can try to transfer if need be.

Thank you in advance for any input.

UNC’s transfer acceptance rate lowered over 8% this year. Are you instate or out of state? I was rejected with a 3.4 college GPA and a 30 ACT as a transfer, and was waitlisted during high school with a 3.8 GPA. I thought I had an advantage being an instate student, but UNC is becoming increasingly competitive for both in and OOS students. However, your status as an athlete will probably increase your chances, as UNC seems to value athletics in admissions. I believe you have a pretty good shot. Just make sure your essays are solid, and your recommender can vouch for how capable you are inside and outside of the classroom.
