Uhhhhhh...you consider playing games online "hanging out" and say you don't have a social interaction problem?
[/quote]

Wow, way to make ASSumptions. Read what I said, then use the gray matter between your ears, then start typing. I said that it's a good way to keep in touch and interact, albeit in a limited way, with friends back at home for cheap. Just because I'm not able to play a game of Ultimate or meet with them for a movie doesn't mean that I want to cease interacting with them in any meaningful way. However, if you had actually read my post and tried connecting the dots-- that would have of course required you to drop your preconceptions...how awful!-- you would have noticed that I am seperated from them by an entire ocean.

I don't know about you, but I can't afford the time or money required to fly home from rural Japan too often. Perhaps you can afford to do so, and are lucky. I unfortunately am not.

Perhaps my idea of social interaction is a bit different...

Again, beggars can't be choosers. I do go out on weekends with my friends, but when you live in rural Japan your options are severely limited both due to location and various barriers (cultural, linguistic, age...)

Perhaps I value REAL LIFE friends over digital pals...

Perhaps I value ANY interaction over none at all. I suspect that you live in the United States, within driving distance of most of your friends. Good for you. Read my first paragraph again and try, oh do try, to understand why I would in effect "settle" for whatever I can get.

Unless your idea of a good time is to go out with 60-year-old Japanese men and drink sake, all the while not understanding a word being said. Hey, everyone's idea of fun is different.

Maybe I'm crazy.

No, I just suspect that you let your narrow little schema get in the way of thinking how other people might interact due to the barriers presented to them. Or maybe you just like to show off your e-***** by telling everyone how they're "anti-social" or "smelly" because they, God forbid, don't share your exact ideal for social interaction. Pardon us, oh lord and master of everything that is interactive.
