Are you eventually going to let senioritis take over?

Once all has been said and done, and college admissions come and go - will you let yourself succumb to full-force senioritis? (Not to the point that your colleges will rescind your acceptances... but close.)

Nope… Otherwise I can’t get credits for my math at community college.

Two of my classes I’m not trying very much in right now but I still have As - that will continue into next semester. I will probably let my Chem and Econ grades go to Bs though.

I have to get an A for my community college class since it’s highly likely it’ll be calculated in my college GPA.

Oh I see - my CC course is just first semester. I don’t think I’m going to register for one in the Spring. So long as I have an A in that, it weights in my HS GPA over and over, even after the course itself has ended.

I’m more or less giving up in AP Calculus and AP Literature though.

Even though I’ve got block scheduling by semester, most of my AP classes end by third quarter, sometime in April. Once they end I’ve literally got health class and a bunch of electives. So once fourth quarter hits, I’ll get senioritis. Maybe a little later cause I’ll still have to study for my AP tests.

If I get accepted to my dream college, then I’ll probably get lazier. For now though I am working hard to keep my grades up. If I do get accepted to my dream college, I’ll keep my motivation up just until the AP exams then I’m gonna start going into free mode

My school ends literally right after AP Exams, so I laugh when y’all say “until AP Exams”.

No…I want to get college credit too, and I go to school for reasons other than just college apps.
(I procrastinate and lot and I always have, but I don’t think it’s worse this year compared to other years.)

Lol, probably. 4th marking period will hit and my brain will automatically shut down.

Hopefully not. Haha. My schedule was carefully planned to avoid this. Four APs first semester than only two second. Done through summer school so this would be possible.
My clubs get heavy early into second semester and I wouldn’t be able to handle it.

Lol no. I think so many people get hung up on “senioritis” they start getting lazy and procrastinate. I tell myself, “just do your work,” then I get it done. When you really think about it, if you get accepted into the college or university of your liking, wouldn’t you want to work hard, or continue to work hard to maintain admission?

No. I do not want any Cs or Ds. I hate them. I will also get an A in math because I won’t accept anything less.

LOL yeah - our school ends right after AP Exams, essentially. After AP Exams, you watch Disney movies in all of your AP classes and eat pizza for the rest of the year, so after the exams, I’ll only really have Latin class…

My school ends BEFORE some AP Exams this year (the last two days of exams) :stuck_out_tongue: The day I have AP Gov exam is my last day.
But I definitely see myself succumbing to senioritis in certain classes. I will not allow myself to be so lazy I get a C, but I see a few B’s coming along… it’s almost guaranteed in AP Lit.

But on the other hand… I’ll be putting a LOT of effort into scholarship applications… so my lack of effort in school will be negated really…

I’m just aiming for at least a B in all my classes. I’ll definitely be upset if I get B’s in classes I know I can get an A in, but a B is fine by me this year.

I know I can pull off a couple A’s without putting much effort after getting accepted.

This thread is just going to make me get going on my senioritis earlier…ugh. Bs overall will do for me, I guess.
We had some HYP acceptees who played a game one quarter trying to see how hard they could “slump” in AB calc by trying to get as low a grade as they could while maintaining an A for the term (we’re talking 93.02 percent and stuff here). Fun game to play for those of you who are competitive but want just a bit of relaxation.

For those who really want outta class in our school:

We have an option of “Senior Year Project” where you drop all your classes second semester (after grades are sent to RD colleges) except English (grad requirement) and another class, and you work on a special project you make a proposal for in october.

You get to spend the free blocks working on said project, and have a presentation/question and answer forum at the end of the year, with some sort of finished project. I’ve seen recyclable canoes, an improved toilet, biodiesel fuel works, internships with the Children’s hospital, work with blind students, an arguement that theater helps people get around ADHD…and I’ve seen stuff BSed to give an excuse to get outta class for half of the year when senioritis kicks in.

Cool way to do extracurricular research and awesomeness or great way to slack? Depends on who you are. But Senioritis takes sometimes comes in beautiful forms too.

Third trimester = straight B’s.

I’m only applying to one school and they require your final year report instead of midyear. So, senioritis is here already. I currently have an F in one class :D

Why are you putting all your eggs into one basket?

^Because if it’s a safety, that’s all you need. :)

By senior year I let Senioritis partially take over. If I could go back, I would take off a bunch of AP courses that were just for the GPA (no top 10 anyways)/rigor but not take the actual AP test. I would better my time w/ friends, clubs, and learning CS / Spanish.

Basically, all the tricks of the system were in the bag so I could stop taking notes during lectures, BS assignments, not study, etc.

Full IB, 8 classes, a sport, tech crew stage manager, plus a 5 credit college course? My last semester of high school had no room for senioritis, or sleep. Since I had a 4.0, too, it would have been hard for me to let that slip away at the very end.
