Classes don't begin until 9/5. The official move-in date is 8/30. So what do you do in that week (from 8/30-9/4)? Is there anything that you are REQUIRED to do in that week? In other words, can you move your stuff in, leave, and come back before 9/5?

sure. there's welcome week, but it's basically school without the classes.. which means major parties.

OK, besides parties, anything academically related that you must do or attend?

nope.. unless you're an incoming sophomore to the bba program. we have orientation on sept 1st.

Unless you already know a bunch of people and don't plan on meeting anyone else you probably should stay.

yeah man. stay and party it up!

well you can't party during the day, so what do you do? i think you can join clubs and stuff on some day, right? i guess you can go out and just meet people as well...don't tell me that the day is for sobering up and the night is for partying/drinking/whatnot.

Everything except hall meeting applies to all students.

no, you don't ever need to sober up. that's totally unnecessary.

Mr100%, dude, loosen up the tie a bit and check out the parties, I promise you will like them.

you can also do something like...make friends with the people in your dorm...go do something outside, play bball...w/e

just cause there's no school doesn't mean only partying is left

DTow I know the parties will be fun but you can't party 24/7. I just didn't wanna miss anything important. You have months to spend in Ann Arbor, I don't think that one week will make a huge difference in terms of socializing and partying.

You don't need to attend many parties, you can just watch some movies with some hallmates, go do some random ****....

I didn't get a chance to buy football tickets...are they stilll available or will I have to purchase some from an individual? How much would you say they'd cost?

It's too late for season tickets. How much they cost depends on the game. First of all, you pretty much always want to get student tickets, because they cost $20 less. Shouldn't have that much of a problem finding cheap/possibly free tickets for Central, Northwestern, and Ball State. Vandy might be a little harder, just because it is the opener. Wisconsin would be moderately difficult to find tickets for. Iowa tickets I'm guessing you might be able to find from someone who can't show up for face value. Good luck finding someone willing to part with MSU tickets cheaply.

mr100%,

i recommend you go. If you don't go, you will be facing a situation where people will already have made their little "groups" of friends. while these cliques are always short-lived, it may make the first few weeks a little more tolerable.

Don't you just meet friends naturally? I've never really made an effort just to meet friends. All my friends have come to me naturally. Oh well, guess I'll find out tomorrow.

I'm commuting and probably not going to any of the welcome week stuff, seeing as how it doesn't make sense... I mean, come on, Meijer Madness? Yeah, I'll do some grocery shopping for my mom. Basically, what I'm trying to say, is not everyone stays/attends/insert verb of your choice all the pre class stuff, and I'm fairly confident that I won't spend four years walking around by myself with no friends just because I didn't dorm/go to welcome week stuff. Yeah okay, I don't know where I'm going with this so whatever.

This is one of those things where you don't have anything required so you should take advantage of the ample free time (you won't get this much until the semester is over!) and meet some people, get to know the campus, and all the wealth of activities U-M offers.
