Argh, wat's wrong with me

I got a 5 on Calc BC
i got 800 on math 2c

but i'm utterly incapable of getting 800 on SAT I math!!!

sat math really isnt a math, its more of a conceptual math, youd never see sat math in real life, yet you would see calc math in real life(duh), you pry just mistakes and if you can fix them your on you way to an 800

Why, what did you get on Sat I math? I bet it is a 790. Be happy with your other scores.

Don't worry about it. Your other scores indicate your high mathematical ability.

BTW, a kid from my PA public school got into Cal Tech last year with an 800 Math IIc, a 5 on AP Calc BC, and an SAT I math score only in the high 600s.

yea i'm thrilled about my other scores. i haven't taken the SAT yet, i'm taking it in december. right now i'm getting a 740-760 on my practice tests in math, and i need to boost it up to 800.

You don't need to boost it up to 800. Were you getting 800s on all of your IIc practice exams? If not, maybe you work better under pressure and will wind up pulling an 800 on SAT I math come test day, as you are only 2-4 questions away from this score now. Good luck, but don't stress over something so petty (1 question on a math test).

Hahahahah come on. You haven't even taken it yet? I am sure you will get an 800 or close to it.

It's understandable. Since you're more advanced you haven't had the math courses you need for the Sat 1 recently. So you might have forgotten some of the ways to do more simple math. Same thing happened to me. I think adcoms will understand that so don't obsess about getting an 800.

i had the same prob as you. ets purposely tricks you. dont make careless errors.

sorry to barge in on the thread ....

I have SAT II's next week but i know for a fact I'm not taking the Literature one which I signed up for. I now have an empty test space available, and I think I should take a Math 1c exam, although I've taken 2c and gotten 800 and 5 on calc bc. The only reason is that i never got an 800 on sat i math. Would it look bad? I just dont want to lose money by not taking a test. Is it possible Collegeboard refunds money for unused SAT II's?

I think for me at least, the problem (if you can call 710 a "problem", and 740-760 CERTAINLY isn't a problem) is that I'm really good at math, but I always make those little STUPID mistakes. I'm gauraunteed to make them on every math test I take and get approximately 6 or 7 wrong. But on SAT I Math, the curve is miniscule compared to the SAT II Math IIc test. So 6 wrong on SAT I=710, whereas 6 wrong on SAT II=770+ at least.

And Nike, you'd only be getting 8 dollars back. I think taking Ic would be fine, because another 800 never hurts. But you should try Literature if you can, or even something like history or another science.

If you're really that inclined to get an 800, I don't think taking IC would be a good idea. The curve is every bit (if not moreso) as harsh as that of SAT I Math. You practically have to have ALL of the questions right to get an 800.

Wat's wrong with you? You're a fricking jackass. Go do something better than your life than obsessing over an 800

some people actually have high standards of excellence. respect that.

Is there a certain kind of problem that you're consistantly getting wrong?
