what im saying is, "they" may be talking about this supposed "book" simply to inflame anti-semitic feelings, as others have done in the past. the fact that the book "hasnt been translated into russian," and thus they did not read any exerpts, kinda leads me to believe that it is indeed a fake. and i highly doubt "all jews" really wanted to use it.

No, they read excerpt on television. I just didn't learn by heart.

Are we gonna let this thread die?

What do0 you think about this thread? Maybe it's worth continuing..

Let's take this back to the "army" topic...

Whether you choose to believe it or not (and today it seems to be popular to support reduction of the military), throughout history, the military is what defined the greatest empires. Might is right whether you like it or not. And those nations that sacrificed military power and empire did not make an impact on the world unless by chance a nation that did create an empire incorporated elements of the previous nation's civilization ( Greece and Rome).

Thus, to me it is funny that so many people want America to reduce its military because, without its military, there would be no America. Well, not really. There would be an America but it would be the same America that existed prior to World War II - one that had little say in world politics. And those that claim that America could still maintain its power without the military through economic influence, America has very little economic influence. It does not produce too many goods anymore. Other nations are beating us in terms of technology and consumer goods. Its no fault of our - its just the economic cycle.

If you feel that your nation should go down the drain, you are entitled to your own opinion. For my part, I want to continue seeing the United States at number 1 because I still have a sense of pride and I feel that the U.S. still offers more freedoms and personal liberties than any other nation. Especially today in such a hostile world climate, reducing military is the last thing we want.

Thus, if it is absolutely necessary, a draft is fine with me. And if I had to serve, I would. People claim that their freedom and rights are violated if they are forced to serve. As someone here mentioned earlier, it is only thanks to the American military that citizens have those rights and notions of freedom to begin with.

In other nations, military service is mandatory. Period. Does not matter how you feel about what is going on. Here, we do not have mandatory service. We don't even institute a draft unless it is absolutely necessary. And even if a draft is created, those drafted might not even end up on the battlefield because we have so many troops and because we need to fill our reserves. But that's not enough for some stubborn people who are still anti-military and refuse to recognize that it is what controls the order of the world.

I am only going to put my left foot in this argument and step right out....what you might consider (moral issues aside) is that sometimes US war policies are not beneficial to the US but rather to a a small group of persons who have an influence on these policies....

Uh... imperialism is a bad thing.

Aside from disagreeing on that point, I'll agree with the rest--the US, or ANY stable and free nation, keeping the peace in the world is better than chaos everywhere. I really don't care if it's the US being #1 or the UK or Germany or China or whatever, so long as someone legitimate, just, and principled is keeping things orderly.

But what kind of military do we need? The days of huge militaries building empires with superpowers beating each other to pieces are over, I hope. All we need is a military that keeps down the "rogue" nations and one that can effectively suppress terrorist organizations. How large a military do we really need to accomplish those two tasks?

Sorry to say, but you're blind.

1) empire is the highest form of state.Every country with sufficient economic and military power ruch to be an empire. I don't see anything bad, that America now wants to be it.

2) The army must be very strong, but made only of professionals, i.e. volunteers with salaries.

3) terrorism? Are all americans so misunderstand the real situation? there is no any terrorism!! It's just the reasom for USA and Russia to conquer other countries. For usa Iraq and Iran are not the bases of terrorists, and stop to say it's just the "oil-war", it's strategic war against Russia and China, Usa try to surround them with its friends or satellites.

You''re not care whether usa is #1? I think you'll care of it, when millions of chinese move to usa, and americans disappear. They did it with Indonesia already.

Stardragon....i believe that as an imperialist nation...america is manipulating the developed fear of terrorism for the reasons you gave... this does not undermine the anti-american terrorism that has been generated in the past, and continues to be generated because of US decisions....

terrorism exists, but not in so great form USA, Russia and other countries describe.
