Arriving day early for admitted open house...what should we do?

We will be arriving a day early for the March 29th admitted student's day program. Case is definitely my D's first choice right now. It's a great fit for her for many reasons.

My question is...what should we make sure we do and see on our free day? We are not really interested in the "tourist things to do in Cleveland" (she can see all those things later). We want her to get a real feel for the school, types of students, surrounding area where students spend time, the things students do in their free time, etc. We did visit the school once and attended the info session and tour. It would be great to hear from current/previous students as to the best way to use our extra time and really "get to know Case".

You should definitely talk to Mark the Crossing Guard if you haven’t already! You can’t miss him. Congrats to your daughter!

Not sure what to suggest since so many of the things my D does are club based. I think checking out the surrounding area of Cleveland and doing the “tourist” things is worth the while. DD has been there since last fall and hasn’t had much time for that kind of stuff.
However, if your D is into sports, it might be a good time to talk to Coach, meet team and maybe even participate in a practice if it is a spring sport or at least meet a few team members.
Perhaps someone else will have a few better suggestions. Have a great visit.

Check out Murry Hill (Little Italy), restaurants, etc. Also Coventry Road shops, restaurants in Cleveland Heights. If you have time, you have to go to the Art Museum.

The new Museum of Contemporary Art on campus is very nice-- it just opened up right on campus!

You should get tickets to the Cleveland Orchestra if they are playing that night, it’s totally worth it. Cleveland also is a “foodie city” so there are a TON of good restaurants to check out.

Some good suggestions already. Sounds like you’re going to bypass the tourist stuff. Was going to suggest the Great Lakes Science Center (very cool) over the Rock and Rock HOF (always found it to be a little underwhelming). I’m not real familiar with the eating options right around campus. There are however, great food options all over Cleveland. Highly recommend Melt if you want a somewhat unique gourmet grilled cheese experience. Get the Parmageddon (Grilled Cheeses with pierogi, fresh napa vodka kraut, and saut

Thanks for all the great suggestions! We will definetely check out as many of them as we have time for. If anyone has any other ideas, they would also be greatly appreciated. Can anyone describe the “school spirit” at Case? Does it feel really “urban” there or more of a “campusy” feel? Also, how much do students attend sporting events on campus?

My cousin’s son will be graduating this year. To be honest he didn’t really like it the first 3 years. His degree is one that takes 5 years. Year 4 and 5, he loved it! He commuted. That may be part of the reason.
