Art Requirement for California Schools

I’m currently a senior from Colorado looking to apply to schools in California but while filling out applications I realized that the schools were looking for a year of art. My high school only requires half a year (one semester) of art to graduate which I plan to take next semester. The problem is I will only have a semester of art, not a year and there is no way for me to obtain another credit by taking a class. I’ve done some research and I believe a pass on an AP art exam could substitute and satisfy the requirement. Can anyone confirm this as true? Has anyone done this and gotten into a California school? I was also wondering if this could be ignored. Would a school reject me for the sole reason of not having a year of art? Thanks in advance!

The instructions aren’t super clear- but music, drama, and other performing arts qualify.

Here’s my source for my AP test claim:
https://www.ucop.edu/agguide/a-g-requirements/f-visual-performing-arts/index.html

At the very bottom, it states, “UC-transferable college courses or satisfactory scores on AP or IB exams can also be used to fulfill the visual and performing arts subject requirement.” Am I reading it correctly?

You must have one full year of the same discipline; that means, one year of orchestra or one year of art. They must be in the same discipline.

You can choose to take an AP test and you must pass.

The UC’s will not ignore the missing F requirement. If you don’t meet the minimum admissions requirement, you application will not be read.

Also, please note that as an OOS student, you will not receive any funding from the state of California. These are public schools paid for by California taxpayers. Financial aid goes to state residents.
Fees for non-residents are $65K per year for non-residents. Can your parents afford that?
