Although I don't plan on majoring in art, art is a major part of my life and I want to include it on my application. One supplement, however, asks for 20 works of art and I feel like I only have 10-15 which are good enough to send. (My art is realistic painting which takes a long time to complete so I only finish around one or two a year.) Should I just send the 10-15 which I feel represent me as an artist? Or should I just not send an art supplement at all?

If you are completing one or two a year I don’t understand how you could submit 15. Do you plan to submit art you completed in middle school?

Juggle, You should send your best work. 10-15 is more than enough. Ideally you should show a variety of media, but if painting is what you do best, then it’s okay to concentrate on painting.

Curious to know which school requires 20 works. Is it possible that they mean 20 maximum? My son’s experience was that 12 was the norm.

If art is your main (or one of your main) extracurriculars, you should expand and enhance your application package to include an art resume (achievements, awards, classes), a supplemental recommendation from an instructor or a mentor, 1 or 2 media clippings, relevant essays.

PS, I just looked at your “Chances” thread. You should look at Williams – great sciences and high value placed on art/music involvement. Also, Wesleyan, Hamilton, Smith.
