Hi! So one of my biggest hobbies is photography. I won a couple local awards and some ribbons at a state convention.. but I am not majoring in art. Would it help my application if I sent in my photography? if you have a deviantArt account, message me and I'll give you my username so you can see! =) I'm not pro but I volunteer as a photographer for the library and stuff. Photography is a side thing.

and if my photography isn't to their liking, would it be detrimental to my application even though I am not an art major?

Of course…it’s considered a EC…and if you won awards at the state level, it’s a strong EC. The more the better, even if it’s a simple hobby.

If your art is controversial to the point where it could, quite frankly, pi** off a specific admin officer, then I’d think twice, or at least not submit that piece. Although art is very expressive so unless its inappropriate it still won’t upset anyone…even if it is religious or political (most of the times, since they just consider it a work of art)

The answer to your question varies from college to college. So pick one of the colleges you’re considering. Under that college’s admissions site search for “art supplement”. If photography is listed in the art supplement, follow the procedure for submission.

As an example I navigated to the Princeton Art Supplement. See it at:

Yeah I know, I was just wondering for the colleges that do allow supplements whether I should submit photos even if I am not majoring in photography. =D but thank you so much for replying nevertheless! I really appreciate it! =D
