Not to try to impress people. To be authentic. And I knew this already but I wish I had taken the implications of it a little more seriously - the types of people you attract are a direct reflection of the energy you put out.
What did you think about your college introduction week?
Orientation week was the worst week of my life, but that’s just me. It was much too hectic. Things improved drastically once classes started and I got into a schedule.
What did you dislike?
Being away from home was hard, and a bit of a shock. It was a lot of “newness” at once for me. But that’s everyone’s experience!
What activities did you wish were available?
I wish we would have had more social events where we could just sit down and get to know people. We had a lot of commotion - dance parties, sporting events, rallies etc. I wished there had been more ice cream socials, little get togethers…just stuff where we could have real conversations and make friends.
What did you learn?
I learned very quickly that I was not anywhere near as prepared as I thought I was! But there was something very rewarding in knowing that with each passing day that went by I was doing things I didn’t know if I could do…living alone, taking college level classes, etc. It was a great confidence booster.
What did you like?
I got to know my roommates really well really fast, and that was great for me. I had so many fun days and nights with them my freshman year.
Was there anything that made you anxious?
Everything!! But I made it through and now I’m about to graduate 
What did you wish you knew? All colleges have a number of resources to help you do well…professor office hours, tutors, writing centers. Nobody expects you do it all on your own.
What did you think about your college introduction week? I met my good friends during this time. Say “yes” to any activity…don’t not go because you think the activity is “lame”. It isn’t about the activity, it’s about a chance to meet people.
