As a high schooler, is there a way to take a few scourses at Stony Brook?

I checked my local CC, and to my knowledge, they do not offer Russian courses. Majoring in Russian is something I am considering in, but I don't know where to get a fundamental start on it.

I checked Stony Brook's website, and I see they do offer elementary courses for Russian, but seeing as how I'm a high school student, I don't know if they will let me take the courses. Is there a way I can just take the courses? I'd really like to experience the Russian language before I decide that I would want to major it in college.

If anyone can help me out, I'd be very grateful. Thanks!

I don't know the answer to this, but if they do not offer courses that are available to high school students, you may want to try the rosetta stone software. I heard that it works really well

While I too have heard of success associated with Rosetta Stone, I feel as if nothing short of going to a foreign country can help me learn a language better than a class.

We have a program called the "Young Scholars" program; it's open to high school juniors and seniors with at least a 90 GPA. Info will be available for spring classes in mid-November; fall's already closed.

I see, thanks, sbuadmissions; I'll check out the spring classes.

If you search "young scholars" in the main stonybrook.edu search box, it brings up a PDF with a bunch of details.
