As a sophmore, bad semester.. do I still have a chance?

So as a sophmore, I had a terrible first semester. I bit off more than I could chew, and took some really hard classes. Out of my class of 600, I probably had one of the/if not the hardest academic schedule out of everyone. Anyway, I did terrible my first semester and ended up with a 2.8 unweighted and 3.3 weighted =/. However, this 2nd semester, I've really picked it up and am working a lot harder. So far, after 1-2 tests in all my classes, I have all As except for one B which I can hopefully pull up. The highest possible weighted GPA I can get is 4.42 or so.

In terms of sports, I do cross country and track and am a member of the varsity team (and will be for the next 2 years). For volunteering, etc. I am an editor of a magazine for an organization. I am also an officer in a small club. I took the PSAT this year without any prepping, basically just went in and took it and scored 190.

My goal has been to get into a college like Berkeley. Do I still have a chance? If so, what are some goals I should probably shoot for? Thanks a lot!

I think it's too early in the game for you to decide if you have a shot.

Like they always say, it won't hurt you but it won't help you.

I suppose you could raise the weighted GPA up in your Junior year. Good luck, try your best.

Just keep focusing on the grades, your running, and ec's. Have fun and relax. Everything will come into place.

Thanks, my goal is to pick up my grades so that by the end of junior year, I have a cumulative GPA above 4.0 (weighted of course).

In terms of ECs, volunteering, do I look like I'm going in the right direction or do I need more?
