As an Intl student who went berserk ..

.. and applied to ~15 schools and spent a whole lot of money in doing so, I desperately need help.

I've finally got my midyear report, and was wondering how I'm supposed to go about sending it to all the schools? Sending them via FedEx is the only way to make sure that the hard copies are delivered, but it'll cost a bomb ! Is there any other way for me to get this done?

having absolutely no experience in the area, just taking a stab in the dark: think you could fax it over? scan and e-mail it?

Fax it. Most schols will accept that.

If your local post office is reliable and air mail service can reach the US in reasonable time like a week to 10 days, there is no reason to send it via FedEx. I'd suggest that you send it by certified air mail (or whatever is affordable with a delivery receipt).

Of course, sending it by fax or email is a better way if the college would allow it. My only question is, the mid-year report is supposed to be sent by your college counselor. How do you fax a sealed envelope?

^That's just the issue goblue ... or maybe I could ask my school counselor to give me the transcript and then fax it ... ? :S

While many schools will accept a faxed copy form the GC for deadline purposes, however they will still want an official transcript before making a decision (and your application will still be considered incomplete until this happens).

so^^^ fax and then send via regular mail the hard copies.

I'm sure there's a standard operating procedure for this sort of thing. Contact each of the schools and ask what they would prefer, if a fax would work, etc.

i basically did what sybbie719 and historymom said. i had the school fax the midyear report along with a cover sheet explaining what was being sent and who it was from. and then i couriered a hard copy using TNT.

Unlike the application deadline, there is no firm deadline for the mid-year report. So if your school will fax the mid-year report for you with a cover letter, the hardcopy can be mailed via regular certified air mail (or whatever is affordable with a delivery receipt). Usually the fax copy is sufficient for decision with the hardcopy to confirm.

The problem is, that my school isn't going to directly fax the transcripts to the schools. So I will have to request my GC to give me the document, which certainly hampers the authenticity of the thing, right?

As for sending the hard copies via regular mail, well, let's just say that it's possible that the documents reach the school after I've started my college education ;).

Bumpity bump !

You need to e-mail the individual schools, not ask uninformed strangers on the Internet. Doing the wrong thing could hurt your applications, so take the time to get accurate information.
