asian grocery stores

So are there any asian grocery stores/markets within reasonable walking or bus distance around UCLA? I'm craving some real asian snacks and food...

There's that one japanese store, I don't know how to spell it so I won't attempt to, but it's umm on Sawtelle by like hurry curry and volcano and stuff. There's also a 99 ranch in culver city I think, I'm not too sure because the only time I went someone was driving haha.

You've got to be kidding .. I don't think there's a closer 99 ranch than MPK and Rowland Heights area ..

The Japanese market is Nijiya.

like everyone said, NIJIYA on Sawtelle. There is also a bookstore there, Asahiya (YES!). and an ANAP, and karaoke which is like identical to max studio near mitsuwa. this nijiya is so much nicer than the one in torrance. :) we just need a bookoff there and i'll be so happy. and maybe lizlisa but thats asking for too much

take the bbb 1 to santa monica blvd and sawtelle, then cross the street and walk down. on the way there is also safe and save market, which is cheaper for vegetables.

lizlisa?

I'm so NOT a fan of Japanese fashion boutiques. :p

but.. they're so cute!! if there can be a roots and a zara and a h+m here, we should have like at least cecil mcbee!!

eh, whats wrong with japanese fashion boutiques?

also, did you know, sephora is carrying dejavu fiberwig now?

I just dislike Japanese fashion in general.

Too many layers, not enough coordination. I spent a year in Japan practically convulsing in misery at what was considered "high fashion" in the cities.

"high street"

i like how its kinda slutty but more subtle about it...... oh now i sound .. :/

besides, its all about getting a boyfriend. "if you dress like this you will get a boyfriend. if you wear your make like this you will get a boyfriend. if you text like this you will get a boyfriend. if you act like this you will get a boyfriend. horoscope : you will meet a special guy in 3 weeks." ;)

but.. yeah you're right about the layers... except, it is functional. and really, you could even put up a fob look with gap

Nijiya is not on Santa Monica/Sawtelle, it locates before Olympic/Sawtelle. There's also a Mitsuwa market on Centinela(Bundy)/Venice.

there is for sure a 99 ranch in the valley...I go there often heh...its on sepulveda and victory...but yeah im guessing its too far away for someone without a car

California Market in Koreatown.

http://www.californiamarketstores.com/

moldau,

We should dress like Japanese people on Halloween!

shirley, i know that. but the stop you get off at is santa monica/sawtelle. and their natto is cheap, 1,49 for 3 boxes. they are out of tsubaki shampoo though :(

nikkei, you mean slutty fobs? YES! and probably some prof .. ok nvm

hahah my roommates are grossed out by my choice of breakfast

nijiya is good but mitsuwa is better. its at centinela/venice. for those of you who dont know LA, take the 405 south and exit.. venice? go 2 blocks west and youi're there.

but you need a CAR

is the mistuwa better than the torrance one?

thai market at 106th and park....great deals

moldau,

I'm pretty sure the Torrance location is better. I see that location as like the headquarters.

"nikkei, you mean slutty fobs? YES! and probably some prof .. ok nvm"

Haha. I don't know what you mean. I even find the kids in Roppongi or Shinjuku (the hot spots for young kids in Japan) dress relatively conservative. They don't wear anything THAT revealing. How about we dress up as those "gyaru" kids?
