I got my acceptance letter last week, and I've been looking through the photos on the Notre Dame website. What I've noticed, that I hadn't before, was that I can see the Irish national pride even in the photos. There were Irish clovers everywhere, and for one occasion, intimidatingly many people were wearing green. As an asian, I am open to other cultures, and I don't look for an 'exclusively' asian group of friends or anything, but I just want to know if asians at Notre Dame feel left out at all!

kmjlucy, I’m an alum, and I can tell you that I never felt that the school was celebrating being Irish in the sense of nationality, but being Irish as belonging to the Notre Dame family. Green is the unofficial school color, and on game days, etc, many people wear green to express support for the school, not because they are of Irish nationality or wish that they were! I had many friends who were not of Irish descent, yet they all adopted the “Irish” label as a way of showing school spirit. I don’t think you’ll feel left out at all. Does this make any sense??

momdoc, yes that does make sense, thanks!

There is a significant asian population, but two kinds of asian. Basically, some are the international students that are coming directly from Asia and others are U.S. residents who grew up here. Asians do have their own groups, but you can find plenty of other friends if you want.
