Ask a Deerfield freshmen!

I laughed when I heard there was a meat club, how often do they meat? Where do they meat? Also how often are all school assemblies? What do they discuss?

In addition to a great liberal arts education, Deerfield has amazing STEM education program and facilities. We have a fabulous new building for Math, Science, and Technology that includes a Planetarium. [Koch center, Check our amazing facilities](http://deerfield.edu/slife/academic-buildings/the-koch-center/)

Looking at all the smiles on Parent’s faces during this Parents weekend, you can tell there are a lot of happy kids at Deerfield.

I’m going to let deerfield15 take these questions!

Ok, I’m a freshman who is not sporty, and will not be taking a sport as a co-curricular this year (unless you count instructional swimming). I take French I and it is fine, but that could be because it’s French I. All language classes are taught in the language and for French classes we use Bien Dit by Holt Learning. All the Alliances are really popular and people love going to them. They learn things they might otherwise not have known about different types of people. @ ilikecheez32, school meeting is held every Wednesday. and to be honest, the MEAT club sounded absolutely ridiculous, so I never even bothered to find out about it, lol

ummmm . how are your freshmen lives so far?

How are fruit flies?

Do you have a phobia of them? I don’t think that they will be too much of a problem. Freshman life is going pretty well so far. It’s been really easy to interact with everyone, underclassmen and upperclassmen alike.

^What deerfield15 said.

thanks for the help! i really hope i get in! and just asking was going to DA a hard transition? did u have a hard time finshing hw in time and stuff?

There is a lot of homework especially if you place into honors/accelerated classes. But it is manageable if you are good at time management.

Are most people good at time management? I’m just asking because I could finish all my homework in two hours if I had good time management…i just don’t XD.

Is there an interviewer I should be afraid of? Also whats your favorite class and why?

Most are good at time management. We pretty much get all of our work done without being dead the next day. Freshman and sophomores have a required study hall in their rooms every weeknight expect Friday for 2 hours, so you should be just fine on that front. I have only interacted, at least knowingly, with one interviewer, mine. But, I think that all of them are awesome as I haven’t heard any bad reports from my friends. Even if you do end up with a ‘scary’ interviewer, which I doubt that you will, be confident throughout it and try and portray that you know that you are the best student to be accepted, and you’ll do just fine

What do you have to do if you really want to get into Deerfield?

And what do girls wear in the winter?

If you really want to get into Deerfield then you should do everything in your power to let Deerfield know that you would choose them over anyone else(if that is the case) and if it isn’t then you should still try to show interest in the school (know what attracts you to it, what opportunities that they have that you would like to take advantage of, etc.) because they will definitely ask those types of questions in a interview or essay. '

Well we are not in winter yet but it did snow this past weekend! Girls usually wear cords, hunter boots, uggs, patagonia jackets, northfaces and sweaters when it is cold. I have been told that layering is the key…so scarfs and tanks under two shirts or a sweater are good to stay warm!

Thanks! Tips for the SSAT’s and, what do they look for in those tests?

Tips for the SSAT? Study very hard! And learn some root words because those will help you with words that you don’t exactly know the meaning of. Oh! And take it twice. Schools look for students that score well overall in all areas!

Hi again, I was wondering what the concern over dress code was this summer? I heard it was changed slightly and then changed back. I want to make sure what I wear to the interview is appropriate. Thanks

public schools are usually very big, that is very different with privates.

The dress code is the same as before…the new dress code was never enforced!
