When does BU send out BU email account info to admitted students? My daughter was admitted ED1 - should she have received that already? Eager to get some of that stuff out of the way, like medical docs, but you can’t do it until you have a BU account.
@Yankeesfan4 no, they aren’t don’t let that stop you from going for a single, but also don’t expect to receive one
@hcartnam23 i think i got mine like a week or two after i was accepted!!
@allthisangst congratulations to your daughter!!! honestly it takes a whiiiiile… i hate to break it to you. definitely not until RD decisions are out, it might even be after May 1st
hey I will be applying to this school in a few months. I am very scared that my SAT score will prevent me from an acceptance. I am taking a couple more tests and try to bring my score up to a 1270. Is it likely for students with this score to get accepted? Especially if they have a gpa of 3.9 and extracurricular activities ?
Hi everyone, since application season is coming through, I thought I’d offer myself as a resource for any questions you might have about BU! I’m a current freshman at BU an just want help others get here! So please ask anything you might doubt about BU, like fin. aid., life on campus, classes, admission chances, etc. Hope I can help!
Kinda have several questions…
-
On searching for internships, I am applying as math major and am generally interested in the computer science field (parents want me to do medicine but I doubt that is going to happen). I wanted to know is there a good support system for seeking out internships and jobs while in college? I am sort of worried about having to seek out and find internships alone because I understand it is probably a cutthroat environment what with having Harvard and MIT nearby.

I used to live up north in Toronto, but moved to Louisiana for my parents job. What is the cultural atmosphere in Boston? Are there lots of cultural opportunities for south asian students? Louisiana is kind of rough cuz I am basically the only person of my race here… This information would be nice to know so that I am not super isolated.

Also if you know anything about what its like to transfer to BU after a 1-2 years, that information would be helpful. Because of money, I’m not sure if I’ll be able to go for the whole time, but this is my top choice and if I am unable to go at first then I’d certainly reapply as a transfer student.
Sorry this was such a long post. Thank you!
@rhkk2002 Thanks so much for your questions, I’m going to try my best to answer them.
- I definitely feel like there is a great support system here at BU to find internships, I definitely feel like the CCD (Center for Career Development) can offer you many great resources, I’ve been here for like almost 2 months and there have been countless of resources ranging from resume workshops, or interview practices to career fairs, as well as companies coming here to look for interns and such. There are also plenty of opportunities from professors who are looking for students as well.
- I completely get where you are coming from, and be rest assured that BU has a lot of cultural diversity! I personally have seen some South Asian organizations/clubs but I don’t know too much about them.
- I don’t know a lot about transferring to BU, unfortunately, but if money is an issue, I would definitely look into some of the merit scholarships BU offers and try to apply by the deadline to give the best shot. I would also consider looking into outside scholarships. Personally, I was very fortunate enough to be given great fin. aid, but I know that that is not the case for everyone at BU. Just shoot your shot! You never know what could happen.
Hope this helps!
any advice on Sargent vs CAS? Sargent seems to suit my daughter’s interests, but is it harder to get into? Do you have to pick one school for your application? Or can you get into CAS if you weren’t accepted to Sargent (or vice versa)?
