Ask Questions About Hill!

Hey guys! I hope this application cycle is going well for everyone. Im a current senior at the hill School, and if anyone has any questions, I’d love to answer them.

First off, here are my stats when I applied to Hill (for 9th grade):

National Geographics: PA
Ethnicity: White
Age: 15

SSAT: 56th percentile
Verbal: 630
Math: 710
Reading: 640

Grades: I had pretty good grades thru all of 8th grade
Pre-Algebra: B+
English 8: B
History: A-
Science: A
French: B- (yeah teacher was pretty bad)
PE: A-
Health: A

ECs:
GSA: 2 years
Anime Club: President/founder (3 years)
School newspaper: Delivery crew (1 year)
Music: Violin (5th chair)

Anyways, getting into Hill was a dream come true for me. The interview was pretty scary, but I was prepared. I brought a bunch of photos and materials from my Anime Club meets and really wowed the interviewer. Its really important to show dedidcation and commitment to you’re ECs. Its pretty hard to stand out as an 8th grader, so that’s definitely my advice for any new Rams!

Comment away if you have any questions. I recently committed to Penn State University, which wouldnt have been possible if not for the Hill school. I had the greatest 4 years of my life here, so if anyone’s interested please shoot me a PM.

Hi @HillRam2k17,

I’m currently in 9th grade, and I’m applying to be a 10th grade boarder. Hill’s always been a dream of mine, especially because of its ideal location in the heart of Pennsylvania and there dedication to harkness. Chance me please…?

SSAT: 63rd %-tile
Math: 720
Reading: 640
Verbal: 520 (I know… not the best)

My grades are pretty solid. I have a B+ average and also have decent 9th grade ECs (listed below in order of importance)

Varsity Swimmer
Robotics Club
Origami Club
Habitat for Humanity
Harry Potter Fan Club
Student Government
Debate Club
Chess Club

I don’t really have any leadership in any of these clubs, as my philosophy was to basically join as many clubs as possible to fill up resume. I can probably make some stuff up about my commitment to these clubs (if need be) during my interview.

I do have a couple questions in preparation for this process, if you wouldn’t mind answering…

-What was your interview like? How would you suggest to prepare (do you specifically remember any questions that they asked)?
-Whats the cafeteria food like? I’m lactose intolerant and a vegan… will they accomadate my dietary needs?
-How are the teachers?
-What has been your favorite/worst memory at Hill?

Thanks so much!
