Hi, guys! I recently got accepted to an awesome, extremely well-endowed school in a place far from home (I'd rather not say which for privacy reasons). I really want to go to the college's accepted students weekend but can't afford to pay all of the transportation costs. A couple of my other schools offered me a free round trip plane ride, but this one (one of my top choices) did not... Would it be weird to contact them to ask for a little financial help? A ticket would be around $200, and my family could pay around half

It wouldn’t be weird at all. You have nothing to lose by asking, and they expect their students to ask. They know whether or not it would be easy to find the money to visit. All they can say is no. This is a business transaction. You’re in demand.

Thanks for the reply @jkeil911 !

yes, it’s perfectly normal to ask. Some universities offer it and others wait until you ask. There’s no risk in asking anyway: you’re already in! :)
