Aspiring Film-Maker With "Okay" Grades.

I'm a Caucasian, female incoming high school senior from Massachusetts who is going to major in cinematography or screenwriting. I have a GPA of 2.83 (unweighted), but would like to get it up to a 3.0-3.2 by the end of the first semester. I have looked at many film schools throughout Los Angeles, New York City and Boston but find them to be out of my reach. I have been in mostly honours courses throughout all of my high school career, and maintain B's and C's, and failed math once third term. I am involved with many clubs at my school, including Drama, International, Creative Writing and Philosophy, and I will be playing a school sport for the first time this fall. I have also taken the National Latin Exam, and earned the honour of "Cum Laude" for my exam score. My top choice is USC, but it seems to be incredibly out of reach.

Can I get my GPA up to a 3.0-3.2 in one semester of all A's?

Even so, will colleges look at my senior year grades?

What film universities are in my reach?

If I present all other aspects of the application (SAT/ACT scores, student film, essay) above average, then would I have a chance at USC or even NYU?

Thank you.

What are your SAT/ACT scores?

Yes, colleges will look at your fall senior year grades.
