At this rate, I am destined for a career in custodial work..............

…

time to revive this thread

Your overinflated verbosity does the depiction of your character little good. Lol.

Back to colloquialism: I have similar stats to you, in terms of numbers, so I will be your “harsh” judge.

According to “The College Hook,” by Pam Proctor, “If you’re the editor of the newspaper, play three sports, and took lots of AP courses, you don’t have a prayer – because everyone else is doing all of that too.”

There are literally tens of thousands of valedictorians, concertmasters, students with perfect GPAs, sports captains, , etc. Although your numbers (GPA, SAT, SATI) are quite impressive, and as you have qualified yourself, people with better stats than have you (yes, this is grammatically correct) have been rejected from the most selective colleges.

How do colleges pick out these endless masses of applicants? Mainly, admissions officers look for hooks. Colleges, such as the ones you have indicated, are not interested in well-rounded candidates. They are literally looking for the leaders of tomorrow, and it all starts with who you are right now.

So here’s my breakdown:

Statistics: In the appropriate level for someone who wishes to apply to the most selective institutions. However, the highest single testing is a bit low (in the mid 50s for many). SAT II score should be updated.

Awards: Some significant awards are present, such as USNCO semi finalist (assuming this is in nationals), and the Cornell Book Award (however, even people who have received such awards are known to have been rejected), but nothing that shows a singular focus. No hook.

ECs: Good, but weak in a field of highly selective schools. Because many schools now mandate Community Service for graduation, it is becoming a null-point. Instrumentals are also a too-common activity and it is hard to distinguish yourself in such an activity pool without a significant accomplishment. Leadership is conspicuously absent.

Summers: Have you used your summers wisely? Such as taking part in an internship or honing your instrumental skills in band camp? If not…

Overall, you have the grades and other stats, but so do thousands of other applicants. Unless you are able to distinguish yourself from the pool, you will not be highly considered.
