At what time of day are decisions sent?

Are all decisions e-mailed/mailed on April 1st, or is that only the date that they start to notify applicants about the decision.

If they send out all decisions on April 1st, are they usually sent in the morning, afternoon, or night?

Decisions will be sent via e-mail at 5:00 pm ET on March 31st, 2010.

. . . or at least around 5:00 - 5:30 pm.

@ Karottu - is it really on March 31st? I heard that it was going to be on Apr 1st this year?

Also, anybody knows if the email will have the actual decision in the body of the email? or are you directed to login to check your status? Just curious, because I’ve read on the other threads that sometimes applicants crash the school’s servers since everyone is trying to log in at once?

Best wishes all!

do all the ivies send out emails with your decision?

a little obsessive, no?

I prefer the term ‘excited.’

“excited” is moving on with your life enjoying the break until decision day comes your way. worrying and going as far as to confirm the exact time of day at which decisions arrive? well that’s what some might call “obsessive”. These threads about “is it March 31 or April 1rst?” are ridiculous enough, but going out of your way to find out the exact time the mail goes out of the office? Well that’s something else. What don’t we try and predict the traffic and weather on decision day to find out how long it will take the mailmen to walk up to our homes? And then, how much our mailbox flaps weigh to fine tune our approximations to the decimal? Heck why don’t we stalk our mailmen to ensure they stop by our house first? As enjoyable as this may seem, it is not the healthiest way to spend your final months of senior year. Go outside, play with friends, and enjoy the college process to the extent that it doesn’t superimplode your cortisol levels.

Uh . . . not sure I understand how wanting to know when decisions are released qualifies as “obsessive.”

what time of day decisions are sent and when decisions are released are two completely different things as i hope you know. Released is more than valid, trying to figure out when they’re sent out of the admissions office? What purpose does that serve compared to finding when they get home or when they are released? Unless you’re planning on staying home by the mailbox with your laptop on your lap for the entire day, then a few minute hours will hardly matter. You’ll find out by the end of the day inevitably. Get excited, but not obsessed.

And now for my sanity, i bid ye adieu.

@ Hisbeloved: I think I’ve read elsewhere on here that Harvard sends the actual decision in the email, but I may have it confused with Yale or something.

Ahhhhh… I used to be like the OP. Counting down to the second when my Yale SCEA result would come. I’ve stopped hoping for early results and obsessing about exact days after I got straight up rejected. I pretty much stopped caring about the college process right after I submitted my last college application.

Stop worrying. Will waiting 1 extra day or hour really kill you? IT’S second semester senior year!!! Relax and have fun!!! I know you are anxious but things will come when they ought to be. I bet you’ll freak out when the results come out an hour late.

Thanks Millancad :)

Everyone, please check out the Harvard College website. Harvard College>Admissions>Applying>Freshman Application Process>Email Notification.

Someone please post the site address. I am not able to do it.

I got it…

[Harvard College Admissions § Applying: Email Notification of Decisions](http://admissions.college.harvard.edu/apply/application_process/email.html)

I got my email from Harvard last year at 5:03 Eastern on March 31, and the decision was in the email… By the way, that website still isn’t updated, as the 31st is a Wednesday this year.

It has been updated now. Sorry for the wrong info I posted at the beginning of the thread.

I got mine at 5:02 PM EST on the 31st.

Best email of my life.

And you my friend, are obsessively defensive about others’ obsessive excitement (i.e. sounds like someone is overcompensating).

Yes, I bet that must have been very pleasant to read. :)

I assume that you still have it saved?
