Atheists anyone?

Because the evil people have the influence and power to do their evils deeds because of religion. Look at the Ayatollah khomeni... oh nevermind, I'm not going to say anything, because he could declare a fatwa on my freedomofspeeching ass and then muslims would be duty bound to kill me. Like the people who attacked Salman Rushdie, a very good author. The people who did it did it because they believed GOD had mandated it as their religious duty to kill the infidel. That doesn't reflect on their religious at all?

^Because all catholic priests are child molesters. If all you learned about something is from a European History class, why would you pass judgment?

@musicallylatin: Wow really? I'm extremely curious about the Mormon religion. I know a few Mormon kids but don't know too much about the religion.. what exactly is it?

Do you think it reflects on other people's religion?

It reflects on the mind-raping power of religion. Out of the major religions, Islam is the one I detest the most (and some of my best friends are Islam, I've spent the summer in Lebanon with a friend). But the same negative characters of Islam that teaches people not to question their religous leaders (even if they are evil men) is evident in other people's religions

Amazing, in the time that it took my computer to install a single service pack, this thread doubled in size....great work guys!

Any Jews here?

I'm Christian. No specific denomination. I go to lots of different churches, mostly Catholic, because Saturday mass fits my schedule, but my favorite is Greek Orthodox. Really, I just like whichever church has the least singing.

Muslim

Oooooooooooooooooooooooooo lets see who calls me a terrorist!

^ gasp, you terrorist!

;)

TERRORISTA!!!!!!!!!!!! GTFO BEFORE I CALL DHS!!!!

I just couldn't resist, i'm sorry I was joking.

Atheist. But I like reading/quoting the bible. My religious friends laugh when I know bible stories better than they do.

Si. If you'd like to know, I'm stingy, my dad's a banker, mom's a lawyer, I have a big nose, live in an affluent suburb of New York, have curly dark hair, my mom cooks too much and gossips with the neighbors (interrupts and never stops talking), my last name contains the name of a precious metal/gem and ends with burg/stein, I know multiple Cohens and Levys, and whenever a waiter comes up to my mom at a restaurant, he asks "Is anything all right?"

This, of course, was entirely serious and was not in any shape or form intended to poke fun at the other generalizations made in this thread.

Seriously though, I am Jewish, and none of this little tirade was directed toward central1.

Practically any educated person that "doesn't" believe in god is an agnostic.

Speaking of definitions, can anyone define irony?

Certainly

Irony: See above

Many of the greatest people in history have believed in some sort of God.

[/quote]

Actually, they were feigning belief in God due to societal pressure at the time.

So you propose that Bacon, Copernicus, Kepler, Galileo, Descartes, Pascal, Boyle, Leibniz, Newton, Linnaeus, Euler, Mendel, Pasteur, Kelvin, Planck, Millikan, Freud, Khayyam, Geber, Avicenna, Al-Jazari, Salam, Tagore, Naiupaul, Michelangelo, Sen, Raman, Khorana, Ramanujan, Chadrasekhar, Brahmagupta and Abulcasis were each the epitome and definition of stupid? Right...

"Being an ass gets you places in life."

Except a place of respect.

This.

Newton believed there was a hidden message in the bible, was highly religious, and was deep in mysticism. Einstein believed there was a God. There are many other examples, and even if some of these famous minds feigned their beliefs, there would be no need for them to devote as much time or energy as many of them did.

Now, until you start contributing to society please refrain from burning bridges with the giants "on" which progress is made. :)

Being an [redacted] gets you places in life. Being an idiot does not.
For my own sake, I should rephrase my sentence? For who, a bunch of internet posters I don't know? Frankly, I couldn't care any less about you, or about what you think of me. Try again

Those who believe in a religion are stupid and are idiots. Those who are idiots don't get anywhere in life. Therefore those who believe in a religion don't get anywhere in life. There are those who believe in religion and, have by any reasonable standard, gotten somewhere. Therefore this statement is incorrect. QED

I have come to the conclusion that society has been lied to about what a religion is and that king818 is the only practitioner of this "religion" on this thread. Agreed?
