Hi, so tomorrow I have an interview with a member of a frat for a scholarship offered by the frat (open to all freshman, no greek affiliation or commitment required)

It's going to be an interview in one of the study rooms in my dorm. I'm wondering, what it be appropriate to where black pants, button down shirt and a tie? Or would such a interview really be informal and jeans and a nice shirt be fine?

Depends on the fraternity. But most of them dress business casual when they conduct official fraternity business, so your choice is likely to be seen as a sign of respect. If a frat boy shows up to do the interview in shorts just laugh at yourself and explain that the scholarship is important to you. Either way you will do fine…

Thanks, so you think I should go with the shirt, tie and black pants? Anyone else have an opinion?

That sounds fine to me. It is okay to be dressed a little nicer than what you would wear day to day.

Business casual will be fine, nothing too dressy. No need for a suit or anything that formal. A polo-shirt could even be fine for some fraternity chapters. So just a good shirt, a tie of sort, and some dress pant/belt.

Heck, I live several states away, so I don’t have anything close to business casual. And I got invited to a fraternity bid interview next week. So I’m scrambling and panicking to find a time to go to a nearby mall (6mi away) for clothes…lol !!
