Auburn University Admissions Fall 2022

Update….they landed in Cambridge. Sounds like there are slim pickings. :flushed:

We toured over the weekend and were told there is still housing available, although it is going quickly. We are coming in late, just put housing deposit yesterday. DS doesn’t care where he lives, just hoping it’s on campus

Curious if any Spring admissions have gotten offer to start in fall yet?

My daughter just logged in for her housing time slot- it says no rooms, and her housing application is canceled
Pretty disappointing

So what are you options? Is all the on campus housing taken? Are you looking for Off campus Housing now? Our time slot has not come up yet. Let me know.

If you’re on Facebook, there are AU Parent groups that have a lot of posts about this topic…what seems to be an on campus shortage for the Fall and also tons of off campus options. It might be a good place to find info all in one place.

Apologize for the following lengthy post, but here is our experience: Currently, all housing is taken. No vacancies. The housing office was unhelpful. They suggested to check in everyday (via the portal), and hope for the best. They said who knows: 10 slots could open or none, there is no waiting list, and if you’re lucky, when you are logged on, maybe at the same time someone will be giving up a spot… The housing office advice was “we cannot give guidance about off campus housing”. I must remark that as much as we have very much liked Auburn, I am wholly unimpressed with this process. It would seem that despite having a housing shortage, the process could be handled better. That being said, we decided to forgo with even trying to snag a potential opening and went off campus. My daughter found a potential roommate through social media, they FaceTimed each other, and after feeling good about it each submitted an application for an apartment tonight. Walkable to campus, and it seems most apartments by campus lease by “room” so your student is just responsible for their room… and this particular apartment is furnished, which is great. The downtown apartments feel like privatized dorm living (but better than a dorm)
Best of luck to you! Feel free to private message if I can be of help!

We signed an off-campus lease last week. DS is very excited!

Do most off-campus options require you to sign a year lease? I guess this may be an issue for those who don’t plan to stay in Auburn over the summer, although a nice option if you don’t want to move your stuff or just to have the flexibility of a having a place to stay.

We signed a one-year lease. It’s my experience that this is common practice

Might make some feel better that couldn’t get housing… I talked to a mom of a student and she said he has been sick all year because the dorms are moldy. She’s thinking of cancelling her dorm for d22 and getting apartment instead so she won’t spend the year sick like her brother did.

Yikes. Any idea what dorm (or group of dorms) he is in? I’ve heard bad things about the Hill.

Not sure. Sorry

@2021pop @Jengerard @nadoonza For those who were admitted to Spring, do we know if Spring admits will also get a Camp War Eagle Orientation as the Fall admits do, and when approximately that would be held?

I just learned that for the Spring admits, the Camp War Eagle Orientation dates will be announced in August. The sessions are generally held in November and January.

My son got moved from a Spring 23 acceptance to a Fall 22 acceptance last week in his Auburn portal. Anyone else from the Spring admission group get the same updated offer? He will be needing housing, and it sounds like its a tough road for this Fall. We’re accepting Fall anyway!
Please ping me with any apartment suggestions.

Jjoin the FB Groups Auburn University Class of 2026 Parents Page - there are two (War Eagle and TIger). I get a lot of valuable information from that group. DS will be staying at Oliv apartments but I’m pretty sure they are full. It wouldn’t hurt to call them though, you never know if somebody backed out!

@sbgal2011 , I appreciate the tip!

Yes, my daughter also received fall admission and we are all happy to get moving forward in the process! We secured housing at Oliv a few months ago for fall and I have seen several FB posts lately looking for roommates or sublets available. Definitely join the parent FB pages previously mentioned if you haven’t already as there is a wealth of information! Congrats to your son

Can someone give me an idea of what sort of scholarships freshmen are typically awarded through AUSOM? I know they award both departmental and general, and the ones I’ve seen seem to be $1000-$2500. Are students usually awarded more that one, and if so, can they accept multiple awards?

Thanks!
