Auburn University Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

Great visit and obviously treated with open arms and smiling faces due to S28 already being admitted in EA round 1. The engineering department tour was good, got all of our questions answered. The Housing briefing during a Chick-fil-A provided lunch was full of the same info we see on this board. A lot of new construction out in town since our last visit in 2019, with our older son. New Publix and Target right on Collge Ave and new restaurants that all take AU meal swipes.
Our main reason for the visit was to “get the vibe” and it did not disappoint. AU is definitely in our son’s TOP 3.

Not guaranteed, but HC students wanting to live in an Honors dorm have a great chance of getting a spot. Matthews is almost entirely HC students, and Broun in the Quad is as well. When they pick rooms in the Spring, HC dorms/rooms only show as available to HC students, so they fill up much slower than the “regular” rooms.

Auburn definitely has a vibe like no other college we visited!

Just to clarify (dining can be a bit tricky, and the “rules” change frequently)
the meal “swipes” can only be used at the 2 all-you-can-eat dining halls on campus. The dining dollars (included with meal plans) can be used at campus dining locations, including food trucks, athletics concessions, and the Hey Day Market. Tiger Club Account funds (optional, linked to their student account but not a part of their meal plan) can be used at many in-town/off campus restaurants and grocery stores.

Definitely subject to change, but this year, ALL first year students were required to purchase a meal plan that includes 5 meal swipes a week plus $450 dining dollars at a cost of $1470 per semester. This is the minimum required plan, but can be upgraded. Hoping 2024-2025 meal plans will be released soon.

Has anyone who’s been accepted been notified of their automatic merit awards yet? D24 should be receiving one but she says she hasn’t gotten anything. I’d really like to have that in our OOS pocket before I shell out a housing deposit in a few days.

I’m about to shell out the housing deposit in 10 mins, regardless. My S26 got his Merit Scholarship notification right after admittance. Not sure why this year is taking longer.

Housing Deposit Done. If your child is a minor, make sure you have an additional window open with your email open to verify and sign off on the housing agreement, and then you go back to your kids’ housing portal. You have to choose all Seven 7 Housing areas in order of preference.

Thank you for sharing this information and congratulations on being done with the first step. I look forward to getting this done twenty-four hours from now.

We would go for the best meal plan, and yes it was the Hey Dey Market I was referring to right off campus. I forgot that name. We would also load up the Debit BofA Card as well, and monitor spending. This has worked great with our older son.

Our son filled out the housing application before school (we are on the west coast). He was kind of rushing to finish and get it time stamped. Do you know if he can go back at a later date and change any of the answers to the questions re preferences and roommates? Like is that section updatable?

Jealous- S24 isn’t until 11/16 at noon and he was EA 1

did they ask you to rank dorm choice, or was this just to go in and pay the housing deposit?

It looks like you can change all the roommate-related stuff any time up until housing selection opens but the housing areas preference order is locked in (though that only comes into play if they have to manually make an assignment–seems like with the shortage of housing, that wouldn’t happen).

Okay thank you for the info re the preferences and roommate selection page. He mentioned he may want to think more about those answers and be as accurate as possible.

Ranking all 7 dorms did throw him off. He knew his top 3 but did not know beyond that so he just guessed/did his best. Hoping he is early enough to get one of his top 3 dorms. And agree, with the housing shortage, it’s highly doubtful anyone will be manually assigned a dorm.

They had to fill out the housing application which including ranking all 7 dorms. Towards the end of the process we did pay the $100 deposit. After he submitted everything he received an email that his housing application was received. I think it took him about 5 minutes in total?

I love the fact that BOTH the scholarships AUSOM and the housing process are DONE prior to accepting the offer of admission and paying the $200 enrollment fee.

My D23 definitely had her scholarship before we did the housing deposit last year, but Auburn is D24’s 3rd choice rn so I’m kind of annoyed, tbh

For those still waiting, could decisions be coming tomorrow? :crossed_fingers:t3:

If consistent with last year, yes. I do seem to recall it was early evening when the email came in.

EA 1 came around 7 eastern time I think.
