My Son was an EA1 Acceptance and got Nov 8th at 1100am CST for submitting the Housing Deposit. The portal opens at 0900am CST on Nov 8th. So hopefully he is in good shape.
Students can âlinkâ together on the housing portal, and whoever has the first time slot can place everyone into a room/suite. The website says âstudents must pay the $250 admissions enrollment deposit before participating in room selectionâ, so I would assume that means everyone (and make sure it is paid a few days before). After they are placed, students can individually go in and pay the $200 housing prepayment.
And I know what you mean about âcutting in lineâ, but I think they idea is that kids who want to live together get the opportunity to do so. Otherwise roommates would be completely random because students would have to pick an individual that were available as their time opened up. It worked out perfectly for my daughter and her roommates - they got the exact suite/building/floor they wanted.
My daughterâs friend got in EA1 TO⊠there is hope!!!
Also, roommates donât really matter in the Village and Donahue singles. Privacy and a locked single. Which is great for an OOS who doesnât know anybody.
Meaning you have your 3 Suite Mates to get to know and hang with but still in a private bedroom.
You must not have a daughter! To my girl, it absolutely mattered. She loves having her own space/bedroom in the Village, but she was very particular to pick roommates who she thought she could âliveâ with. They all do their own thing (different sororities, majors, activitiesâŠ), but they all get along well for the most part and that makes life much easier.
There are so many apps and ways to connect these days, I think it is easy to get a vibe on someone before you decide to live together.
how hard is it to get a single?
My son applied on day one and received early acceptance and his date is November 9th at noon, so I am concerned that it will be full already after reading previous post about day two being too late for housing. Your son should definitely be good.
how can it be too late? The majority of freshman have not even been accepted yetâŠ
How do people âfind roommatesâ for next year when you are OOS and donât know anyone??
There are Instagram pages. I think you search like Auburn class of 2028.
I am just going by reading previous years posts of people stating that they received day two and everything was full. I have read that people state that as others withdraw then spots will become available. You also have to keep in mind that before first years get a pick date that current year students fill spots as well. We just will not know until we know.
The ZeeMee app is pretty good for finding roommates!
but right now we are not actually requesting housing, right? Housing doesnât start to fill until selection opens in March
So the students fill out the Auburn housing application during their assigned time and pay the $100 application fee. When do they need to pay the $200 housing prepayment? Do you know if that needed right away to hold their housing spot or is that paid in the spring?
$100 in during their timeslot - think of this like an application fee to âget in lineâ for housing.
$250 enrollment fee can wait - but make sure itâs paid a few days before their room selection timeslot in the Spring. They wonât be able to pick a room unless itâs paid and âin the systemâ which may take 2-3 days.
$200 prepayment can be paid during the rooms selection process (Spring). They do have until May 1, 2024 to pay it, but if itâs not paid, they will lose the room, so best just to pay when you pick the room, if possible! But for instance if the first pick roommate assigns 4 to a suite in the Village, the other 3 would have time to log in and pay their fee at a later time (as long as itâs before May 1). And they DO drop people and the chance of getting the room back is slim!
Does that all make sense??
Yes. Thank you for the timeline. We donât want to drop the ball on housing. Appreciate it!
At this point (wellâŠthis week), people are just applying for housing. Rooms filling up wonât be until the Spring, and most people who have been accepted at this point and fill out the application wonât have any problem getting a room. It may not be top choice location/dorm, but Iâd say everyone in EA1 (and even EA2) is in a pretty good position.
How was your visit to Auburn for WED?
If you get accepted to Honors College, do you still have to worry about housing priority? I know there is honors housing but does anyone know if it is guaranteed for all honors students?
