Auburn University Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

It’s the University’s dual enrollment program. These kids have had contact with the AF advisory team since entering the program. The email kind of felt like a heads up that the AF kids will get their decision along with everyone else in October. I imagine they want to avoid a flood of panicky emails when October decisions started rolling out in a “wave” and they didn’t get theirs right away. Outside of this most recent email, the only thing she has received regarding admissions was the post card confirming that she had applied. Hopefully this is a sign that they will start releasing decisions soon.

Thank you so much. I should have paid more attention when you stated DE in the beginning of your original post. I am so nervous and so is my child. We are OOS and when he received the War Eagle Day invite in the mail he said “Mom, I have to sit down my chest hurts.” That hurt my momma heart. He only wants to go to Auburn. If only we still lived in Opp, AL instead of another state then it would make things a little easier. I am so stressed about this decision that is coming soon. Thanks again for your response.

My D24 is OOS and went TO with an unweighted 3.6, 8 honors, 3 AP, 6 DE classes. She got the WED postcard. Her adviser told her yesterday that she was part of the first wave, and would hear back mid OCT with an !
Crossing fingers. Good luck everyone !!

I hear you. It is a lot. S24 really liked Auburn and that plus two other schools are all equally in the running for first place right now. He is expecting a deferral from Auburn as he feels like this first acceptances likely go to the 4.0+/32-36 ACT kids. He is not in that category. It is definitely anxiety producing. It will be a long wait from Next week until final decisions if he gets deferred. He has been admitted to one of the three of his top choices and the other one won’t come out until December and if he gets deferred another long wait.

FWIW I don’t recall much (if any) in the way of deferrals last year. Either you hit the metrics they set for GPA/SAT/ACT or you didn’t and it resulted in an acceptance or a rejection. A little cutthroat maybe but also a lot better than some schools that use deferral or waitlist as a soft rejection.

I appreciate the cutthroat honestly and wish all schools did this. Like I know some are ok with a deferral or waitlist, but myself and my D24 are both planners. She is a social butterfly and I know her, if she got deferred she would just plan for another school so that she could start looking for roommates and truly trying to picture a future at that school.

I think Ive read several people say, “love the school that loves you back!” and I think thats great advice.

I completely get that. Sounds like my daughter. Her #2 has already accepted her so she’d like a solid yes or no from AU so she can move forward. Like Tom Petty said “The waiting is the hardest part”.

Reading through last year’s thread it seems there were a number of deferrals the first round so will be interested to see this year

That is interesting I dont think I remembered seeing a ton of deferred but also cant say I was paying much attention to it either. We would love to have AU as an option but being she has other options and its not our #1 we would take a deferral as rejection and move on.

Hi Jeanie - has he reached out to his advisor at Auburn? I have found them to be very responsive. He received a WED invite so it appears his application has been received. Has he checked the portal for status updates to ensure they have everything? If you have not yet, I would reach out to the Advisor. When my S24 reached out to ask a few questions back when he first applied, he also used his school address. We had realized maybe he’d have issues so we created another and resent it - the Advisor responded right away, but clearly had responded to his other email already as she seemed a bit concerned he asked the same questions lol. If your information is in the portal and says “Awaiting Decision” then his application is in that stage and you should be fine. Hope this helps.

We have not reached out to an advisor yet. It does show awaiting decision. I was just concerned that they might have/will email something and he would/will not receive it because of the school blockers. Hopefully all is well, and he will receive anything that is sent out.

Would just suggest keeping an eye on this thread and if you see others have gotten a decision and he hasn’t seen an email - log into the portal.

You’ve got nothing to worry about- you know everyone here, myself included will be posting the second decisions are out  he won’t miss a thing!

I waited for my September ACT scores to come out so I didn’t make the 9/15 deadline. My portal says the were received on 9/25. Is there any chance I will get a decision with the first group since everything else was in? Current status says Awaiting Decision

It is safest to assume that it is highly unlikely that you would hear in the first wave given Auburn’s explicit cut off dates but I suppose it is not impossible. Wishing you and everyone success!

My son’s friend said he already received an acceptance from Auburn, as did a couple other people he knows. I thought the 1st round of acceptances haven’t come out yet. Did they give out some acceptances prior to EA1 decisions?

Is he an extremely high stats kid? Like 36 ACT/1600 SAT and well above 4.0 GPA? A couple people on another thread mentioned Auburn offering acceptances earlier than the mid October date to exceptionally high candidates. Not sure if that is legit though.

It is certainly possible - but I suspect that would be the exception and not the rule

Are these in-state or Fulton County, GA students? If so, do you by chance know if they’re dual enrollment (Auburn First) kids? While they will get their official decision with everyone else in round 1, anyone who followed the guidelines of the program should know their status. The emails that they would have been receiving from their advising team pretty much confirms. So, maybe they’re going off of that?
