Just a little bump, thanks guys

any word on if it's hard to fit in as an international?
naturally, it depends on the college, but still...?
and what kinda wrap do aussies get?

I heard people are in love with the accents so you'll be mobbed... but from my experiences with americans most of them LOOOOOOOVE you once they find out your from aussieland

well hurrah for that, then
starts working words like crikey into vocabulary

yeah I need to make sure my accent actually sounds aussie. Goes through this weird thing of getting REALLY american in australia and REALLY aussie in america... make the most of what I have I guess

haha sounds great
any good news on decisions?
also, whatcha doin postin at 5 am, girl? lol

I’m in France… it’s not 5am what are you doing posting at 5am… or wait maybe that’s cali time. I have sooo many different time zones at the moment I don’t actually know what I am doing.

No ivies for me but thats okay got into my first choice already. Now just waiting on finaid… which I am PRAYING is enough
and you? good news?

hahah oh right fair enough
wow je suis si jaloux. exactement ou en france est-ce que tu es?

great about your first choice. you’re going west coast, right?
yeah i know the waiting-on-aid feeling, i had the same situation a week or so back. yesterday i got good news (HYP), but it does mean i have a crazy hard decision ahead of me. and everyone i talk to is so damned evangelically partial to one over the others, it’s hard to see reason. oh well, i spose it could be a worse dilemma :p

Woah ajbwells - 3 of the top of the top schools!! Congratulations!! Did you ask for much aid? Do you mind posting some stats? All the best :)

ah shucks, ta. yeah i still can’t believe it. kinda worried it’s some sick april fools joke lol.
aid was veeerrryy generous: about 90% from H and Y, full from P, for room tuition board fees …those guys are so cashed up, i guess if you prove you need it they will come through…
as for stats: (gah hate this bit lol) UAI 100, SAT 2350, SAT IIs Math 800 Phys 800 Lit 790

what’re your plans, aininor?

west coast all the way baby! why the hell would I want to freeze my ass off when I can have california sun? although I was FREEZING in LA like a month ago so you know.

En ce moment je suis en Paris, c’est SUPERBE Il n’y a pas de mots! Mais Dimance, je vais aller au Belgique pour un jour…

SOO jeaous! see like at least you are for sure going… I am still waiting.

CONGRATS though! seriously thats amazing!

Sorry about the late reply, but here are answers for you -

There’s actually no link at the moment, because it was the first year to be offered to Australians, so they only notified people by email. I think they will put up information about this program sooner or later on the UNSW Scholarships website, but till then, contact the UNSW Scholarships office by phone for more details.

The Finalists Weekend is only for people who apply to the Robertson program directly, by applying to either Duke or UNC. For those who apply through the Australian or NZ program, you get to go to the Weekend, but not as a finalist (ie. you’ve already received the scholarship by this time and you’re only checking out the program and campuses). You’re final interview (which finalists would have at this weekend) is held earlier, either in Australia or in NZ.

^Thanks stik - that clarified heaps. I’ll be sure to contact UNSW scholarship office soon!

@ajbwells - Woah your stats are like amazing! I’m going to be taking the SAT II Maths and Physics soon - how did you study and prepare for it? Are some course content (particularly Physics) outside the HSC currculum - if so did you self study it from other books? I heard those two tests ‘scale’ well, so you can afford to get a few wrong and still get 800 - is that true?

Any advice would be much appreciated. And congrats to everyone - you’ve made me so jealous ( and sort of motivated me at the same time!)

Bish: mon dieu, comme je suis jaloux! heh. and yeah thanks i’m just prejudiced against the west cos of OC lol

aininor: where in aus you from, man? i’m assuming you’re a 2014er…
umm yeah there’s a fair bit of leeway for phys; there are tables on the net about what scores you can get (by memory about 5 or 6 wrong is still 800).
i was very naughty and ended up doing a two-weeks beforehand, mid-Jan SparkNotes effort (for the three of them). but it was a lot of work in those weeks heheh.
i’d be happy to help and share my resources i found. the course is quite different, but very limited in how they examine things; if you’re sharp you should be able to teach yourself OK. and i’ll be happy to help out if u have questions. (PM me if ya want).
