I applied Davis, SD, SB Economics and was accepted to them. However, i wasn't able to get into the Calc II class at the community college nor the class at UCLA, so I'm stuck without taking the class for Spring 2010. I was also missing a pre-req for Davis Econ (stats) so I'm assuming it's not like UCLA where if you miss a pre-req it's automatic rejection? I sure hope so. Can I take it in the summer (maybe both classes) to make it up, or do they not allow summer classes? I still have the 60+ units, IGETC, etc. I'm very nervous, and I hope I don't have to spend extra time now at the CC. I did send them e-mails, but I have not received any responses yet so we'll see! Any help is deeply appreciated! Thank you all

UCSD wont care…had a similar incident and they said as long as you meet the IGETC and 60 units you are fine if your accepted.

Do they have an online version? Can you talk to the professor and perhaps reserve a spot? It’s worked for me every time.

lbc are you sure your situation was the same as his.

Calculus is a MAJOR pre-req of economics alot of people were rejected without it completed and they admitted you assuming you would finish the class.

Call them asap and hope for the best

For UCSD, if your major is open(not impacted) you should be fine. I called and emailed(wanted it in writing) them asking if I could drop a course and they said that if you have TAG, aka IGETC and 60+ semester units, withdrawing from a course would not affect your admission. Neither would poor grades (D/F) as long as you kept up a 3.0. Mine was a Physics class for Engineering, also a prereq.

However, Davis and Santa Barbara are not as lax about this. If the school admits you by major: there is a definite possibility of rescinding your admission. If the school does not admit by major and you have TAG: you will be admitted into the school itself, but maybe/probably not your major.

Definitely notify them ASAP. Also, emailing them with a question is not necessarily the same as notifying them. Make sure you specifically notify them about your change in schedule at the right email/phone number! When you notify the schools sometimes they will work something out with you over the summer, sometimes not. Just talk to them about it.
