Rescind of admission? I've been admitted to UCSD and UCI for economics and I wonder if I were to drop Calculus 2 with a W, would either school revoke my admission.. I have never dropped a class before, have a 4.0 and around 87 units.

Uh oh..! I'm going to call UCSD admissions tomorrow.. and I'm trying to log on to UCI's message center (too many people trying to get on!)

I would just call them and speak with an admission’s officer. Even if people tell you it’s ok on here you will still want your confirmation yourself, ya know? Let us know what they say, because I would rather not take my advanced philosophy course this summer and instead take it at UCSD.

It is pretty bad to drop calculus 2. It is one of the crucial pre-reqs because you won’t be able to start on your intermediate econ series anywhere if you didn’t finish your calculus pre-reqs.

You should be ok for UCSD. All they care about is that you finish IGETC/TAG if you’re an Econ major. I transferred to UCSD 2 years ago without any calculus. In fact I didn’t even have pre calc done. I think you’re good bro.

Do you by any chance have an update on this ?

I am in the exact same shoes as you and I am scared I might get my admission revoked If you could PM me with couple of details about how everything went, I would really really appreciate it.

Thanks a lot

Don’t drop the course if you think you can at least get a B or C in it. I know you cherish your GPA but it restarts once you get to the university so it really doesnt matter.
I know UCI requires a B but UCSD only cares if you pass it. Trust me you would rather not drop a major pre-req and risk getting rescinded. Last year I dropped a class and had to re-add it before I transferred because I received information that I could be rescinded. Trust me if you can avoid dropping it then just suck it up and get through it.
