Average entering grades/chances

I know the average entering grade for Mcgill is at ~89%. But is is safe to assume that an 89 in the US is equivalent to an 89 in Canada?

If not, what does an 89% in the Canadian school system translate to in the American school system. And what kind of grades does an applicant from the US generally need?

also...if you guys wouldn't mind judging my chances at Mcgill

-I'm an Indian citizen living in America
-I go to a very competetive public high school(ranked #1 in New Jersey)
-My gpa is about an 89 which is a 3.4
-My SATs sit at a composite of score of 2120(720M, 670V, 730W). But i recently retook them and am expecting a 2150+ with a 1400+ in math and verbal alone.

Thanks

i went to high school in the states and had a 98% average... i now go to school at a private school in canada and have about a 90%... which apparently equates to about a 93% from a public canadian high school (or so they tell me)...

So what I'm gathering here is they have higher standards for US applicants? Is this true?

if you look at it that way, then yes

So do you think I'd stand a chance?

Which Program do you want to enter?

Either Business/Commerce or Economics/Finance which is in the Arts Department I think.

If you want to enter Commerce at the Management School you'll need a 91%

Is that a requirement or an average?

What about the arts department?

I think you are a good candidate for being accepted into the Faculty of Arts (there's never any guarantee until the acceptance letter though). My GPA was higher than your's, but is your's out of a 4.0 or a 4.3? Your SATs give you a good boost, however. You said that your high school is a top school...so make sure that when you send in your application, you send a school profile. That kind of stuff is important. Have you taken any APs? I went to high school 3 yrs in NJ btw (and am Indian! what coincidence!).

Thanks kveenly, my fellow Indian. :)

My gpa is out of a 4.0 and I'll have taken about 5-6 AP's by graduation.
